Forums - Sales - Famitsu Sales: Week 24, 2023 (Jun 05 - Jun 11)

Switch ascends to new heights.

Wonder how much stocks Nintendo has left, at this rate I don't know if they can sustain those sales for much longer.

Very bad numbers for PS5 but I feel like a storm is coming. I'm predicting it will average 100k for the next 3 weeks. Ff16 will be a generation game

In what world is 43k in a week bad for PS5?! lol. That is very good for PS5. Just cuz it sold like 60k+ for a couple months earlier this year when it was catching up on two years of pent up demand and low supply doesn't mean it's gonna keep that up. Currently it has a baseline in the 30ks and 40ks which is extremely good for it - numbers which probably won't hold. So rather than "very bad", PS5 had a strong week this week. Under 15k would be very bad, and it did three times that. You seem to be expecting PS5 to suddenly start selling like Switch lol, that ain't ever going to happen.

The Switch is so far ahead of 2019 now that it will have no problem staying above until the release of the Switch Lite, and even then, who knows what could happen if Nintendo does release a new Mario game this year.

Regarding PS5, it seems that some people got overzealous after Sony's massive sales increase in Japan and need to temper their expectations. We should be happy that the PS5 continues to compare so favorably with the PS4 at the moment, because if Switch 2 releases next year and is a hit in Japan, I don't expect any momentum the PS5 might have gained in the region continuing at that point.

Switch casually selling 100K units in June, without any new releases is something I didn't think would happen.

Hardware, software wise is a disaster.

Xbox game in the top 5, bundled but damn still impressive for xbox. Hopefully with Phil's recent statement there will be more series X supplies where it's needed (especially when starfield drops)

Nintendo killing it, im not surprised , it is what they deserve, now give us New DK + Mario 2D + Rhythm Heaven

Switch is the best console ever, love it so much!

I just saw the Mario Bros Movie, and the little 2D section they have right at the start looks absolutely fantastic. Makes the 'New Super Mario Bros' games look like concept art. I'm still holding out hope for a 2D Mario game announcement this holiday, with illuminations world and full voice acting.

Also, give us Donkey Kong: Battle Racers.

Seeing an Xbox game in the top 10 and Xbox hardware at 9k is trippy.
Diablo 4 on Xbox also came within a hair's breath from outselling the PS4 version which is highly unusual.
(I get that its cos of a bundle, but still)

Speaking of PS4, Japanese PS owners seem to finally be moving on to buying their games on PS5 instead of 4, though the physical presence for both remains low.

If you want a better understanding why Switch experienced a boost look at the biggest software increases.

09./13. [NSW] Nintendo Switch Sports # (Nintendo) {2022.04.29} (¥4.980) - 6.358 / 1.095.617 (+44%)
18./21. [NSW] Ring Fit Adventure # (Nintendo) {2019.10.18} (¥7.980) - 3.068 / 3.397.288 (+36%)
19./17. [NSW] Animal Crossing: New Horizons # (Nintendo) {2020.03.20} (¥5.980) - 2.936 / 7.477.507 (+10%)
25./26. [NSW] Kirby and the Forgotten Land (Nintendo) {2022.03.25} (¥5.980) - 1.818 / 1.033.879 (+13%)

Interesting.

I’m the idea that the Switch is getting sent overseas from Japan considering the low value of the Yen, considering that other markets are going back to pre-Zelda TOTK launch numbers.

But that’s just me, or something else is happening.
