PS5 outpacing Switch by a notable margin is surprising. I know Switch is getting quite old, but Japan is really into it regardless. It seems that the PS5 can sell similarly to the PS3 and PS4 in Japan, but we'll see. It has little hope of matching the PS1 and PS2 in Japan. That would require a large spike in sales this year and high sales for years to come.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Europe should be out sometime today. Americas and worldwide won't be out until March 29 or 30 as the US monthly report (NPD) doesn't come out until the 29th.

Amazing sales for the PS5. Only the DS and the PS4 of the consoles tracked by VGC have ever posted a better February in Europe than this. Even the Wii didn't manage it. With just EU and Japan numbers we are 200k ahead of January already. 1.5m+ Global sales incoming it looks like.

I don't know if Sony can ship 6m consoles this quarter like they plan but sell-through should be in the 4.25m-5m range. Even if it falls short of shipping 6m I think it has a good chance at still getting the record for highest Calendar Q1 shipments ever.
