Microsoft increasing the Xbox price for the third time in a few months...

I hope Sony can handle it better because of how much more PS sells and their joint venture tech work with AMD, so even as they also get very bad RAM deals they could deal with it better.

2028 can't come soon enough, if I'm not right about things getting better by then we might have a big industry crash coming...

About that.......Micron WAS 1 of the big 3 in memory manufacturing till recently.

RAM guys swimming in profit while fucking up every electronic that needs it in the process, insane that it's even allowed to happen.

I do believe the whole IA thing will end in an immense failure tho, so when losing their customers there will be so much supply in the market that prices will have to go down.

I might be optimistic about it, but I literally don't see how this insane rush into IA can actually be profitable to all those companies chasing it, it just doesn't make sense, thus why I believe it's a bubble fated to pop sooner or later.

Money isn't infinite, if there is no big profits to their big investments, as I believe will be the case to the vast majority of the companies chasing this dream, there is just no way it can sustain itself.

I'm honestly surprised it doesn't show big sings of popping already, as there is no way it is being profitable at all right now, but I still hope by mid 2028 it'll have already happened.

It will not last forever, I guarantee it, prices will be much better eventually, but if it lasts long enough, the damages may be too high for the industry to handle.

I'm waiting for china to do the thing they always end up doing and flood the market.

The only way Sony will stop increasing prices is when people stop buying and backed with the release of GTA I don't expect for the conversation to be meaningful in the PS5 life cycle, that's why I don't really care about price news. Is the price of the ps6 and the (I hope) resistance from people that will actually matter, I don't have any plans to buy a PS6 on release, as long as the PS5 gets games I will play there, after that let's see what happens lol.

I'm very much interested in the handheld, I know it's going to be expensive and I will buy it taking all the responsibility of my actions lol but I won't buy until it's confirmed it will run PS6 games.

Oh man there really is no end to this shitshow. How the hell is Nintendo handling this when LPDDR prices are rising much faster than GDDR, and their very cartridges are NAND based? This is becoming a nightmare scenario for Nintendo.

Sony needs to cut PS5 Pro storage down to 1TB and base PS5 down to 512 GB if possible to minimize potential price hikes. It would create storage problems but better that than an extra $100- $150. People can just get used to deleting and reinstalling their games if buying extra storage is a problem.

China, where art thou my dear? Flood the market with cheap and perofrmant RAM, I beg of thee.

Seems like Sony is going to not only stop selling (if they still were selling) but also remove previously purchased movies/shows from Studio Canal from the libraries of people that bought it on Playstation.

https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/legal/psvideocontent/

The all digital future some champion, or already live into, will always innevitably lead to thing like these in the future.

GTA VI not having discs on launch is one of the biggest threats physical games have suffered, it is rumored actual physical media will be available shortly post launch, but this is really concerning.

There are some stores refusing to sell GTA VI until it does have a disc version, including one here in Brazil where I buy most of my currenr gen games, so at least there is still some small resistance to it.

I know this forum is so, so small and even the biggest forums are nothing compared to the mass consumer market, but I really hope this kind of stuff doesn't get sidelined and forgotten.

Xbox doesn't sell physical games here in Brazil since around 2023, and games like Forza games, both Motorsport and Horizon get delisted from their storefront regularly, so it physical media didn't exist, those games would already be unplayed on Xbox for people that did not get them when they were available, that's a flagship first party francise, like happened to Gran Turismo Sport on Playstation as well.

Neither Forza Motorsport (8) or Forza Horizon 6 are sold physically here in Brazil, so unless you are able to import the physical media from another country it's already a reality here, thise games will be unavailable in a market as big as Brazil when they are delisted. And that's just delisting, what is happening to the Studio Canal content on Playstation is revoking your license to use content you paid for.

Physical media can never be allowed to go away.

Even games releasing with non-playable builds on physical media, like Starfield, no content aside from digital keys to download the actual software like Game Key Cards, or codes in a box like now with GTA VI, those are part of the problem that may innevitably lead do licenses being revoked like we are about to see there on some movies/shows purchased on Playstation.

US May 2026 sales for the PS5 was the lowest sales units recorded for PS since May 2000 according to Mat Piscatella (Circana).

No better moment for that to happen that right before a new gen starts. Hopefully they keep declining as much as posible before GTA releases.

This gen has taught us that the mass market does indeed have a hard limit on gaming console prices.

I can't imagine how awful sales will be at the start of the next-gen if these prices hold. Which, all the evidence currently points to them holding until the early 2030's.

The timing of this irony is insane considering they just put their biggest live service IP on a shelf.
