Forums - Sony - PlayStation |OT| Playing Astro Bot on the Horizon Until Dawn

When powering on the PS5 it goes to the Welcome Hub and starts a huge VI logo animation for GTA VI.

Also, for the first time I can remember, the PS app icon was changed to reflect a game, GTA VI, colors. I can't remember it ever changing for any Sony first party game to be honest. I might have missed it, tho.

Anyway, the marketing deal between Sony and Rockstar must be insane.

Looks like Hulst sent out an email too. Here's the key parts:

"We have made the decision to reduce Bungie’s workforce, affecting a significant number of employees, including most of the Destiny team and some Marathon team members. There are also reductions across SIE teams that support Bungie’s operations. Those impacted at Bungie and within SIE are being informed today."

"Over the past several months, together with Bungie leadership, we reviewed the studio’s long-term direction, development priorities, resource needs, and role within our broader portfolio strategy. We explored multiple alternatives before concluding that a reduction was necessary to align the studio’s resources with its current priorities and long-term goals."

"Marathon remains an important part of our portfolio, and we will continue to support the team as they build on the strong foundation established in Season 1 and 2, and as they work on incubation efforts for future projects. While it’s too early to discuss, we are encouraged by the creativity and opportunities that lie ahead."

We'll see a number of executives at Bungie leaving too. Not because they're getting fired, but because their contracts from the Sony buyout are about to finish vesting. So those who helped get Bungie in this position are about to leave with huge paydays.

That is the case a lot of times.

The ones making mistakes are vastly rewarded by it while the workforce suffers the consequences.

WOW! Dude didn't even get a full year

BREAKING: Bungie studio head Justin Truman, who succeeded Pete Parsons last year, is stepping down, people familiar with the situation tell Bloomberg News.

Microsoft increasing the Xbox price for the third time in a few months...

I hope Sony can handle it better because of how much more PS sells and their joint venture tech work with AMD, so even as they also get very bad RAM deals they could deal with it better.

2028 can't come soon enough, if I'm not right about things getting better by then we might have a big industry crash coming...

Reading into what MS said they expect storage/RAM to double again by Fall 2027 so that sounds like 2028 will be just as miserable.

Having bought a Pro when it was below it's launch MSRP at £599 is startling to like an absolute steal even though at the time it was hard to convince myself even at that price, Maybe they will also have to discontinue the 2TB Pro and opt for 1TB internal storage to keep the price down.
