Oh and Insomniac posted two openings for character artists (3d modeling) one for heads and one for bodies, both asking for expert knowledge of human anatomy, animal anatomy and creation of hair. Did someone say hair?

Both are 12 month contracts so maaaaaaybe they aren't that far from showing something what's next.

Haha, in fairness this could easily still be Wolverine (beast like characters/muntants) including post game content lol. As much as I love Ratchet, I would quite like to see Insomniac to try something new.

Gameplay/quality wise Ratchet has remained rather stagnant tbh. Not a terrible thing because the series is very consistent, but lets just say I won't be mad if future entries are mostly outsourced (ala Sumo digital/Toys for bob) whilst Insomniac try a new IP or sumfin

Nah, Insomniac in the Marvel coalmine and they ain't digging themselves out at this point lol.

The big Insomniac leak suggested an X-Men game, which there are several characters this could pertain to.

Also not mad about that, X-men is my favourite comic book IP and can take on a whole slew of different 3rd person gameplay styles. If Insomniac want to make something else though I think that will definitely happen on the side as they've always juggled quite a lot. I think it does reflect a little bit in their creative ambitions though. Their games are great 8/10s IMO but never really classics.

Just don't forget in those same leaks there was business documentation for a new Ratchet lol and I'm actually expecting for the xmen game to be the wolverine "sequel" so I think the spider man team is making spider man 3 or something spider man, the wolverine team will make xmen and the ratchet team will make the third Ratchet game.

I don't know how I feel about these rumors about Sony having two state of plays before mid year. The more the better obviously and technically that also happened last year with the dedicated SoP of 007 and then the Spring SoP lol but I'm not really that interested in a show dedicated only to third party specially because I think console exclusive games like the new Silent Hill won't be in that one.

The new SH was shown off at an SOP though. I think they'll keep showing it if they can.

That said. Konami and Capcom seem to show off their stuff at SOP, so even a new RE announcement (or 9 DLC) are likely too.

I dunno, if they are doing 2 SOP and splitting 1st and 3rd party, then their 1st party one must have a lot going for it (fairgames lol)

So, I don't think Sony is going to quit on Marathon just yet. There's too much riding on it, and it sounds like Bungie has no other definitive plans yet. Gambling that Marathon can be turned around seems the best bet right not to ensure they don't lose talent from a team that has shown it can be incredibly profitable in the live service game.

But I think there are obvious short-term and long-term planning that needs to take place. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but the game needs a respawn feature yesterday. Season 2 needs to begin with it. It'll help set it apart from other Extraction shooters, but it'll also help with onboarding efforts, which itself is a massive issue right now that needs to be fixed.

I think they also need to have some community aspect where you can just hang around in a shared space with other people, testing out weapons etc. Just some random casual aspect to it. I also believe that remaking the trilogy should been underway. They have the graphics engine, they have the gameplay: they could do the absolutely bare minimum if needs be, but Marathon trilogy doesn't even exist on console so it's still something. I think it could be released as single titles for a lower entry point: this allows the opportunity for ppl buying into the SP experience of Marathon to look to jumping into the MP experience. Not saying it will happen, but they have to be trying whatever they can.

But honestly, one thing Sony needs to do is to showcase Marathon in this rumoured SOP: highlight changes being made for Season 2 in a couple months. highlight that there'll be a free weekend for ALL users (through the beta download). But if Sony is going to stick with Marathon longer, then they need to keep talking about it and updates. This is something I think MS does particularly well with their live service titles like that pirate game (name forgetting off the top of my head): it always shows up.

But I could be wrong and the game is gone tomorrow lol

The hackers started leaking the data they recently stole from Rockstar and some stuff is insane.

GTA Online has an average of 10 million players a week. Most games can't even sell that.

Regarding monthly active users for the online, PS5 is by far the most played and profitable platform for it, PS4 is the second most played comfortably but average revenue is only a bit over XBO, when it has almost double the player count, which is fourth on both metrics. XBS is third in most played but second on most profitable.

PC is fifth in both metrics and a LOT down regarding profits, which makes easy to see why Rockstar doesn't really care that much to release their games there day one.

This GTA data is very different from other data (official from what I recall) I read somewhere showing PC being much closer to Playstation in player engagement. But it covered a different period.

PC numbers here are shockingly low. Xbox numbers are excellent and show that the platform is far from dead. Xbox One's relative player retention in the US may be even better than PS4's, but it's at the expense of weaker Series X/S adoption vs PS5.

PS4 has nearly double the average player count than the XBO, which match global instalbase, but those on XBO spend more than those on PS4.

My guess is, based on how high spending is on PS5, that most of the playerbase willing to spend on it was also willing to upgrade to the PS5, so that's why it's so high there and comparatedly lower on PS4, the split is clear from people willing to spend less just staying in the PS4 too.
