To me Cory's game will be the TGA last reveal this year, and release within 6 months max after it, so around June.

Intergalactic should be their 2017 holiday game, so Octorber is my prediction.

And yeah, that would make quite an insane year, is both are as high quality as the last Santa Monica and Naughty Dog games were.

I have a hard time believing Sony would do a 6 month reveal to launch timeline for a new AAA game from Cory Barlog. If his game is coming 2027, it'll be announced at SGF or the May-June SOP in a few months.

They literally just shadow dropped a game tho.

I think they are open to doing a 6 month reveal too, specially if that means using TGA as a venue, and letting all games for 2026 release before generating the hype solely for it there.

I'm not saying they can't announce it before, but I can see it working very well for them.

And so the rumors of Cory's game targeting to release next year begin.

If they manage to release Intergalactic and Cory's game in the same year that would be awesome.

Indeed! I'm expecting 2027 & 2028 to be Playstation 5's best year in terms of software.

A few of my other predictions for 2027:

FFVII part 3
Persona 6
Marvel 1943 (Delay)
Gears of War E:day (Delay)
Dragon Quest XII
Star Wars Eclipse
Jedi Trilogy conclusion
Astrobot sequel

Yeah I also saw the summer 2027 as part of the rumor but I agree that I don't see they announcing the game and releasing it 6 month later but maybe they could do the same that they did with Yotei. Announcement in September, release in October/November of 2027. It's still a huge if for that game and Intergalactic but would be cool if it actually happens. A year of Insomniac and maaaaaybe GTA followed up with Naughty Dog and Santa Monica the next year, money printer.

Btw Marathon trailers may have a lot of dislikes on youtube lol but they actually boosted preorders in various PS Stores and on Steam is doing better than 007 in both preorders and wishlists. Good for Bungie, the people working there deserves a break.

They shadow-dropped an indie developed game. This is a far cry from an AAA investment from the likes of Cory Barlog. Sure, anything could happen and things change. But there's nothing to suggest they'll move to a 6 month reveal to launch window for such a huge investment, especially in this climate with AAA development costs and the exorbitant price of games.

It would be cool, but I don't see it happening.

Yeah its possible and would of course work but there's no reason why Sony would wait that long to show it off. There could be an argument on focusing on X amount of games at a time, but once Saros is out and Wolverine is close I'm sure they'll be leaping to show off how much cool stuff they have heading to playstation in future.

I think the last big AAA game with that promo turn around that fast was Fallout 4 (and Split fiction on a smaller AA/AAA budget), definitely works but not sure there's incentive for Sony as a platform holder to be coy.

I hear people are expecting it to be announced around Summer Game Fest, which was always the time to announce the big stuff back when E3 was the big thing, but my point is about the same, using the biggest event nowdays, The Game Awards, to do it.

They specifically choosen to announce Naughty Dog next big game there in 2024 too, even it being so far away from release.

Sure, they did announce God of War Ragnarok in the usual September State of Play, so there is a better precedent there, but by choosing to reveal the remake on a SoP this year, even as it'll be a game that comes after Cory's game, it scream to me they are saving that game to be the big thing to end the year, in the biggest venue possible.

And I personally don't think having a 6 month period between announcement and reveal is bad, unless it's actually a new IP, which is confirmed to not be the case and IMO is another God of War mythos jump.

Cory had a vision for 5 more God of War games before Ragnarok, so we are still due 4 of them. He also had made sure some bullet point were met in Ragnarok after letting another person direct it.

We also were confirmed Tyr would be hinting on new locations with his travels and exercicies, by Valhalla end we got reinforced both Japan and Egypt with his weapons and fighting styles, from the symbols on Tyr's mural on 2018, but got a Mesoamerican weapon in the place of what was a Celtic symbol before on the mural.

I think Egypt at the very least warrants 2 games or 1 game and 1 final tye-in with Greece to end the series, so right now we would have either Japan (doubt it with how much is has been used recently, even in-house by Sucker Punch) or either Celtic or Mesoamerican (Azted/Mayan), so my bet would be the later, as I would personally preffer going to American continent rather than staying on Europe, but I think they will find someway to mix both because that Celtic symbol has to be more imporant than the Mesoaerican weapon.

Anyway, what I mean is, another, new, God of War being announced this year would build hype instantly, they don't need a long marketing period for it.

There is nothing confirmed about Cory's next game. If we take the chatter that it isn't a new IP, we should also consider that the same chatter is claiming that it will feel as if it were one. Reinventing an existing IP is not going to make it an instant sell imo. But I suppose we'll see what Sony decides to do regarding this.

Yes, but that information about it now being a new IP is shared by both Shinobi and Jason from Bloomberg, so IMO it's as confirmed as it can be before actually being announced.

They did say it would feel like a new IP, but that's exactly what 2018 did for the series too, we have even kind of have 2 different Kratos, based on how much it changed the franchise.

With Cory saying he had 5 (now 4) games still on mind, and making sure Ragnarok would follow specific plans, like Atreus having to leave Kratos side by the end, and they also confirming Tyr is the hint to where the series would be going next, it is by far the best assumption that his next game is still God of War, and it is another mythos.

There is the possibility of before going over this plan he would to do something else, yes it does, but as of now many things lead me to think it is the above.

And yeah, no way but to wait and see lol.

@twintail

Seems like Cory's game will be announced either in SGF or September SoP.

Also, Kratos current voice actor was the one saying it, and that he will be in the new game, so even more chance of it being another God of War.

Sony is shutting down Bluepoint.

What the actual fuck is wrong with those execs at Sony? The studio used to release high quality ports and remakes, them they shove a live service God of War on them, which is cancelled, and now the studio is getting closed.

Why even buy it? Fucking idiots.
