They literally just shadow dropped a game tho.

I think they are open to doing a 6 month reveal too, specially if that means using TGA as a venue, and letting all games for 2026 release before generating the hype solely for it there.

I'm not saying they can't announce it before, but I can see it working very well for them.

They shadow-dropped an indie developed game. This is a far cry from an AAA investment from the likes of Cory Barlog. Sure, anything could happen and things change. But there's nothing to suggest they'll move to a 6 month reveal to launch window for such a huge investment, especially in this climate with AAA development costs and the exorbitant price of games.

It would be cool, but I don't see it happening.

I hear people are expecting it to be announced around Summer Game Fest, which was always the time to announce the big stuff back when E3 was the big thing, but my point is about the same, using the biggest event nowdays, The Game Awards, to do it.

They specifically choosen to announce Naughty Dog next big game there in 2024 too, even it being so far away from release.

Sure, they did announce God of War Ragnarok in the usual September State of Play, so there is a better precedent there, but by choosing to reveal the remake on a SoP this year, even as it'll be a game that comes after Cory's game, it scream to me they are saving that game to be the big thing to end the year, in the biggest venue possible.

And I personally don't think having a 6 month period between announcement and reveal is bad, unless it's actually a new IP, which is confirmed to not be the case and IMO is another God of War mythos jump.

Cory had a vision for 5 more God of War games before Ragnarok, so we are still due 4 of them. He also had made sure some bullet point were met in Ragnarok after letting another person direct it.

We also were confirmed Tyr would be hinting on new locations with his travels and exercicies, by Valhalla end we got reinforced both Japan and Egypt with his weapons and fighting styles, from the symbols on Tyr's mural on 2018, but got a Mesoamerican weapon in the place of what was a Celtic symbol before on the mural.

I think Egypt at the very least warrants 2 games or 1 game and 1 final tye-in with Greece to end the series, so right now we would have either Japan (doubt it with how much is has been used recently, even in-house by Sucker Punch) or either Celtic or Mesoamerican (Azted/Mayan), so my bet would be the later, as I would personally preffer going to American continent rather than staying on Europe, but I think they will find someway to mix both because that Celtic symbol has to be more imporant than the Mesoaerican weapon.

Anyway, what I mean is, another, new, God of War being announced this year would build hype instantly, they don't need a long marketing period for it.
