Good point. They do absolutely fit the vibe and color scheme for the game.
I wonder if SNY is worried enough about Marathon that they figured if they market the covers and controllers as their own RGB thing, that if by chance Marathon gets bad reviews and is quite disliked by gamers and sells poorly or tanks, that the covers and controllers will still be viable. Launch them both around the same general time frame, but not so close together that it's obvious they're supposed to go together. If Marathon works out and sells well or is a hit, it would be relatively easy for SNY to suggest these covers and controllers as a great addition to the Marathon gaming crowd.

I think that's a possibility, even as I expect Marathon to be a failure (expect, not hope), if it does succeed they can indeed start tying it to the game, even without the branding itself on them.

I guess it's possible that Marathon is a smash hit and the covers and controllers sell terribly, which would be ironic if you're right about the assumed true intentions of them.
I can't believe the covers and controllers won't sell well to some degree though. They're pretty cool looking in their own right. Even if Marathon tanks hard I'd guess the work put into these accessories will be worth it.
