New York pays more in taxes to the federal government than it receives and this is how we are treated. Just about every blue state pays more in taxes to the federal government than it receives, while it is the opposite for red states. 

If the South did secede from the U.S., Texas would have to carry the entire resulting country. Even Florida punches far below its weight economically. Despite having a larger population than New York, its economy is only 60 percent the size of New York, and is close to Illinois’s economy in size despite having 9 million more people. 

If the South left Florida would get hid hard as a lot of their money is from tourism. I'd expect far fewer people would visit their beaches and theme parks.

Imagine if the northeast (NY, NJ, PA, MD, DE, and New England) left and either formed a new country or just joined Canada. And if the 3 west coast states and Hawaii did the same thing. What is left of the country would be screwed. 

Well, the conservatives want a throwback to past, they get one - but probably not exactly the one they were expecting...

Republicans have shut down the government.

Why? They won't negotiate.

They want to pass a bill that will allow the Trump administration to throw 15 million Americans off their health care & double premiums for 20 million Americans.

We won't let them.

Dems should easily retake control of the House. The Senate will be much harder as they need 4 seats. Maine and North Carolina are the most likely pickups. But what is after that? Ohio, Iowa, Texas?

Texas is persistent fool's gold. I've been hearing that Texas is "purple" or going to turn blue for 15 years now, only for Ted Cruz - a cowardly weasel who displays naked contempt for his constituents - to win by margins of 1 million votes. I'm actually rooting for Cornyn not to get primaried next year, because Paxton is one of the worst human beings in Texas, which is saying something. 

Susan Collins, likewise, keeps getting re-elected despite being objectively awful. 

Democrats should honestly work on places like Alaska as well, and consolidate in Arizona. We have two blue senators in Arizona. We had five Democratic members of Congress out of 9, but then gerrymandering by a Republican governor and very slim Republican majorities in the legislature wiped out two of those seats. 

Nah the Democrats actions are still so performatice, so much of it is still an act and a lot of 'nice words' but no action.
All they do now is 'name calling' Trump and his voters and hope all his plans fail, peace in Gaza is what they say they want but they did nothing when they were in power and now their is hope and a high probality that the endless killing stops and they fear its succes. Democrats are like the average European who do nothing else then call Americans stupid, call Trump all the vile words they know but at the same time go on their knees for weapons for Ukraine and please solve the Israel/gaza conflict.

Next thing is probably again protests for the homeless while the Democratic state with the most homeless will do nothing about it..

Yeah, and it seems griping is all anyone ever does even when they are gripping about someone else.  Unless you are out their making your voice heard, why would you expect any change.  Change doesn't happen sitting at a keyboard griping about stuff.  Change happen when you put your feet to the pavement and do something.
