If the South left Florida would get hid hard as a lot of their money is from tourism. I'd expect far fewer people would visit their beaches and theme parks.
Imagine if the northeast (NY, NJ, PA, MD, DE, and New England) left and either formed a new country or just joined Canada. And if the 3 west coast states and Hawaii did the same thing. What is left of the country would be screwed.
