Trump on China: "By not trading, we're losing nothing. So we're saving a trillion dollars. That's a lot."

Wat.

North Korea isn't trading with most countries either so they are also not losing anything with it!

He's genuinely going off the deep end at this point. When is the right finally going to say enough is enough and impeach his ass? I think I already know the answer, sadly...

I can only assume he didn't consult with anyone at all on this and they woke up like "What the fuck?" and gently explained to Trump how stupid and unfeasible this was and are now backing down from it within 24 hours, Lol.

Of course it’s not feasible. Does this imbecile actually think studios won’t increase ticket prices and subscription fees for streaming services if this comes to fruition? Well, sure, that’s what he wants you to think (as with tariffs on everything else), but that’s not actually how it works. After all, streamers are reliant on foreign content. If they get charged more for shooting their foreign content that makes up a good chunk of their catalog, that cost is naturally gonna get passed onto you, the consumer, same with theaters. This also probably means rolling back the number of films made to subvert that loss in profit.

Oh, and speaking of theaters, does he seriously think increased ticket prices or outright boycotts of US films overseas will help what he calls a “struggling industry” (whatever the hell that means)? After all, China was already fixing to do just that amidst all the trade war nonsense (that he started) before this.

This is ignoring the fact that not all films/shows can physically be made in the US, duh. Remember that classic film The Godfather? It was pretty reliant on being shot in Italy. LotR, GoT? Good luck shooting that in the US. Seriously.

Hell, what if I told you one of the most iconic and influential sci-fi movies of all time (likely?) wouldn’t have been made without that tax rebate from filming in Australia in 1999 (and, by extension, Max Payne)? The Wachowskis had $64 mil to shoot (at the time) never-before-seen VFX that WB only reluctantly agreed to after months of pitching and storyboarding shot-for-shot and they wouldn’t have been able to meet that quota otherwise. Why? Because filming there was cheaper.

But hey, I put a hell of a lot more thought into this than the Cheeto-in-Chief.

I mean, they only gave all of these "sovereign citizens" 20 years and numerous delays to get a RealID, because red states dug their heels in and fought against RealID. Oklahoma took an especially long time to get on board. So I can't blame people for being caught completely off-guard because they spent their childrens' entire childhoods resisting getting RealIDs. Sometimes it just kind of sneaks up on you. I'm guessing these people also don't have passports.

He's not a Cheeto-in-Chief.

He's a Cheetahman-in-Chief:

  • His skin and hair color matches.
  • He's super-fast when it comes to reverse decisions as soon as he meets ANY resistance.
  • His brain works just as well as the videogame.

Did the Couch-Felcher show up to help Trump pile on Carney, like they did to Zelenskyy?

Lol I heard part of that on TV and instantly wanted to cancel Netflix, I downgraded it to the cheapest tier for now. (Dunno who in the home is still watching what, it's on the cancel list anyway)

And still avoiding all 'product of USA' in the supermarket. F off.

So, wonder when Dear Leader can be expected to tweet “Narendra, STOP!”

IDK, seems bad.

Effects of Trumps tariffs and diplomacy: A Frenchman now developed an app which scans products to know the country of origin of the products and warns if the products is Made in the USA:

I tested the app (which is called détrumpez-vous, literally detrumpify yourself and a pun on détrompez-vous, which means don't worry) and it shows not only where the brand comes from, but also it's parent company. Oh, and it flags and has a counter that goes up for every American product you scan, so basically the lower your score, the better.
