Considering how much the liberals shot up in the polls after Trudeau announced his resignation, to the point that they went from rock bottom to out polling the conservatives within a couple weeks, I think Carney will win this election.

Poilievre is simply too close to Trump for comfort for many Canadians, so the more Trump fucks up the worse his chances get.

I wouldn't count those chickens just yet. The situation feels very reminiscent of what happened when Trudeau's father stood down in 1984 with the party floundering in the polls. Trudeau Sr. was succeeded by John Turner, a guy who wasn't an MP at the time but had a reputation as a financial wizard and managed to revive the party's polling position, only to completely bomb when it came to the actual election, leading to the Liberals barely scraping in as the second-largest party.

Then again, I'm fairly certain that Ronald Reagan never threatened to annex Canada, so that might make all the difference this time.

Mark Carney is the new leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, and as the leader of the party currently in power, will be the Prime Minister of Canada at least until the general election, replacing Justin Trudeau.

Hopefully he'll be able to both navigate the trade war with Trump and solve some of Canada's more pressing domestic issues along the way, and if so, hopefully he'll be able to defeat the Conservatives led by Pierre Poilievre in the general election. I don't know much about Carney, but I do think Poilievre would be bad news.

So far, Carney has talked a good game about standing up to Trump and winning the trade war. I'm hoping he keeps that energy when he's in office. It's too easy to see Poilievre engaging in appeasement or even outright capitulation to Trump.

His speech was great and he was Governor of the Bank of Canada and Governor of the Bank of England so he seems like the perfect guy for the job at this moment in time in regards to America being a twat with tariffs, a sensible choice to combat that bullshit. I do think he should call the election ASAP because the Twitter bots/Far-Right idiots are already out in full force with disinformation and attacks against him, I think him taking the initiative could be a smart move rather than letting this nonsense build over months.

A lot of these morons are screaming about how he wasn't democratically elected by the public, like, bro, it's a goddamn parliamentary system, educate yourselves, Lmao. Musk is also going to try to interfere in another countries elections like he did with Germany/AfD and do it via Twitter. America is now the new threat to elections across the world and we all need to be prepared not just for Russian interreference but now American interference via the Republican owned Twitter.

Setting aside the incredibly dangerous and fascist aspect of this, is there actual evidence that Khalil was a “Hamas supporter”? Or is the standard for a green-card holder being sent to a secret location and possibly deported just “critical of Israel”?

So apparently the standard is “activities aligned to Hamas,” so the answer to my first question would, as could have been predicted, be no.

"Activities Aligned to Hamas" is vague as hell, sure is starting to look like what we predicted, that anyone "Pro-Palestine" will be labelled as "Pro-Hamas" and deported, Wtf does "Activities Aligned to Hamas" even mean, Lol. At least the KKK and Neo-Nazis have freedom of speech in America. Pro-Ukraine voices will be next to be deported since Trump is working with Putin.

Prices are rising for just about everything; the most recent CPI found that the cost of foods and services rose by 0.5% for January after rising 0.4% for December. This puts the annual rate of inflation at 3%, which is higher than most analysts anticipated.

"The index for food at home rose 1.9 percent over the last 12 months. The meats, poultry, fish, and eggs index rose 6.1 percent over the last 12 months as the eggs index increased 53.0 percent," the CPI found.

However, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon says that sometimes those efforts are just not enough to ease the difficulties entirely.

“You can see that the money runs out before the month is gone, you can see that people are buying smaller pack sizes at the end of the month," McMillon said at the Economic Club of Chicago.

He added that he feels the stress of consumers across all socioeconomic levels, particularly for folks who are more exposed to price hikes.

“There are lots of income levels in this country — if you’re at the lower end of that scale, you are feeling more frustration and pain because of higher food prices,” he said. “They’ve persisted for years now, and you’re just tired of it. And you want it to get better.”

During an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that aired Sunday, the host asked Trump, “Are you expecting a recession this year?”

“I hate to predict things like that. There is a period of transition because what we’re doing is very big,” Trump said.

But he admitted that an economic “disruption” is possible.

“There could be a little disruption. Look, what I have to do is build a strong country,” the president said when discussing the recent fall in the stock market. “You can’t really watch the stock market. If you look at China, they have a 100 year perspective. We go by quarters. And you can’t go by that.”

Trump Admits He's Willing To Let Americans Suffer For His Tariffs

In January, DOGE staffers called the Bureau of Reclamation claiming President Donald Trump wanted water pumps turned on at the Jones Pumping Plant, which sends water to the state’s Central Valley, CNN reports.

But when the official didn’t give in, staffers Tyler Hassen and Bryton Shang flew to California to open the pumps themselves and get a photo while doing so, CNN reports. But two issues stopped them.

First, the power was off due to planned maintenance. Second, Shang wasn’t an official federal employee yet, meaning he couldn’t access the pump. Hassen couldn’t do it either, CNN reports, because he had to fly back before the power would be restored.

The United States has been added to the Civicus Monitor Watchlist, which identifies countries that the global civil rights watchdog believes are currently experiencing a rapid decline in civic freedoms.

Civicus, an international non-profit organization dedicated to “strengthening citizen action and civil society around the world”, announced the inclusion of the US on the non-profit’s first watchlist of 2025 on Monday, alongside the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Italy, Pakistan and Serbia.

The Chinese government quakes in their boots every time there's a slowdown in their economy. If they had an actual contraction in their economy, they'd be shitting themselves, because their 1.4 billion people aren't going to just sit and starve for 100 years while they make China great again, their 1.4 billion people are going to become ungovernable within weeks if they're forced to feel that kind of hardship.

Earlier this week, we reported that Tesla sales in Norway collapsed by 44.4% through January and February, despite the country’s overall EV market growing by 53.4%. Things are even worse in Germany. New data from the KBA – Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority – shows that in January 2025, Tesla sales plummeted by 59.5%, with just 1,277 new cars registered in the country.

The situation only worsened in February. Sales were down a staggering 76.3% compared to February 2024, with just 1,429 units sold. Through January and February, Tesla has delivered 2,706 vehicles in Germany, marking a massive 70.6% drop from the same period last year. Tesla’s decline is even more pronounced when you consider that overall BEV sales in Germany climbed 30.8% in February.

Australia isn’t much better. Data from the nation’s Electric Vehicle Council shows that Tesla shifted 1,592 vehicles in February, a massive 71.9% decline from the 5,665 sold in February 2024. Through the first two months of the year, Tesla delivered 2,331 vehicles to Australians, a 65.5% decline from the 6,772 vehicles sold over the same two months in 2024.

And then there’s China, where things are also looking grim for Tesla in one of its most important markets worldwide. Preliminary data from China’s Passenger Car Association reveals that Tesla built and sold 30,688 vehicles in February 2025—a 49.16% drop from the 60,365 cars moved in February 2024. This total includes both domestic sales and exports, but it’s clear that Tesla’s Chinese market share is shrinking. When you factor in competition from local EV manufacturers, the picture becomes even murkier.

Fucking George Soros!!!

Tesla is the only company that can miss all its goals and still have a ridiculous stock valuation, it is complete meme stock.

The MAGA chuds were absolutely raging when the Austrian People's Party formed a coalition with the next largest parties that covered 70 percent of the government, shutting out Herbert Kickl from the chancellorship. In their mind, the FPO should have had absolute control of the governmnent even though they only accounted for 29 percent of the votes and were only one and a half percentage points above the Austrian People's Party, the next biggest party, just because the FPO "won." Pluralities mean nothing to them, they think everything should be winner takes all.

Speaking of, I am not convinced that Conservatives will lose in Canada just yet but there's now at least a chance, I do however hope that even if they do win, it's not a majority government, I'm not too knowledgeable on all the Canadian parties so I hope a lot of them would be unwilling to coalition with them or at least if they did, force them into concessions.

According to a survey by the think tank Destin Commun, published this Saturday, March 8, 2025 in four European newspapers including Ouest-France., 59% of French people call US President Donald Trump a "dictator". More than half of the French, Germans (59%), and British (56%) call Donald Trump a dictator, an opinion shared by 47% of those polled in Poland.

More Than Half of French People Believe Trump Is A "Dictator" According To A Study

One in two respondents to the infratest poll say their opinion of Trump has worsened since he took office. Just one in seven expresses a favorable opinion of the US president. The United States' reputation is plummeting to new lows. This month only one in six voters described the US as a partner who Germany can trust. Three quarters believe that NATO members cannot currently rely on the United States for protection.

Germans No Longer See US As Trustworthy Partner

When he rose to his feet at prime minister’s questions on Wednesday, Keir Starmer delivered a stirring tribute to six British soldiers who lost their lives in Afghanistan 13 years ago. He read out their names very deliberately, one by one. The House was silent. The prime minister then added a tribute to a 22-year-old British Royal Marine, also killed on 6 March, but in 2007 in Helmand province.

They were poignant moments, on what is normally a raucous and crudely partisan occasion in the political week. Across the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, Starmer told MPs, 642 individuals had died “fighting for Britain alongside our allies”. Many more had been wounded. “We will never forget their bravery and their sacrifice,” Starmer said.

But the prime minister’s tributes were not just for the families of the lost soldiers. Nor were they just for British ears. They were also intended to be heard loud and clear in the US, inside Donald Trump’s administration, most notably by vice president JD Vance, who the day before had appeared to disrespect British troops by saying that a US stake in Ukraine’s economy was a “better security guarantee than 20,000 troops from some random country that hasn’t fought a war in 30 or 40 years”.

After 80 Years of Transatlantic Ties, Europe Forges a New Alliance

Keir Starmer’s approval ratings have shot up since Donald Trump returned to the White House and shocked Europe by withdrawing political and military support for Ukraine, according to the latest Opinium poll for the Observer.

Starmer’s Labour government as a whole has also gained public support for its response to the global turbulence caused by Trump’s return – on security and economic issues. His personal ratings have risen by 10% – albeit from an alarmingly low point – compared with a month ago.
