Elden Ring deserved this top 10, sad it's missing on its own home country

A comparison with last year would be nice :).

This just shows how Nintendo completely took over the Japanese market not just for console sales, but also software. Over 70% of the software sales came from Nintendo/Pokemon Company, and over 90% of software came from the Switch. And this was without those big 3rd party games like FF7R, Tales of Arise, RE2, RE7, RE8, RE4, Elden Ring, etc. If Nintendo's next system can handle all the major games coming out in the next few years then Japanese gamers are left with little reason to get a PS over a Switch 2 (assuming that's their next system). Doesn't help PS that PC gaming is growing in Japan where these games are also making their appearance.

Kind of amazing that the #1 game Pokemon S/V sold almost twice the #3 game PLA. Either way, Pokemon really dominated the chart this year.

Pokemon and Nintendo are truly simply juggernauts in their own country.

This might be a redundant fact since a few years now but oh boy did few people predict such happening back in 2017 😅
