No kidding! This quote from Asha on #3 of her memo was CRAZY. She already talking about how much worse it'll be in a year and a half from now.

"When I joined as CEO in February, the price we paid for console storage components was over 2x as high as we paid last fall. These costs have since doubled again. And as we plan for the 2027 holiday season, we expect another significant increase, taking us over 5x the prices we paid only two years earlier."

If your losing that much money on each console sale..... why even bother trying to sell large amounts anymore? Why kickstart a new generation?

I'd be trying to cooldown things, and trying other ways to make revenue (atleast for short term, that makes so much more sense).
Like Pulling E-day.... is going to cost them millions (in profits).

And if they lose 100's of dollars on each console sold, and cannot keep up with hardware production as is.... why bother?
I assume part of the console exclusives is to try and push the platform.

Is the console exclusives just to try and fix consumer trust abit, for next generation? (so it doesn't suffer from the "series" generation of xbox's)
A long-term view, at the cost of current day profits.

I feel bad for Asha Sharma, honestly a mess she inherited.

Imo, she's trying to keep Xbox console player retention as best as she can for the remainder of this generation. Phil dramatically raising GP pricing and completely abandoning console exclusives led to Xbox losing millions of GP subs and a lot of players questioning the future of the Xbox console and if it's even worth spending anymore money on the platform.

Asha lowering Game Pass pricing to bring sub numbers back up, returning to console exclusives to get the current console playerbase excited for the future, and therefore, getting them to spend again will help somewhat in bringing revenue numbers back up.

The remainder of this gen is a lost cause. They're not gonna try to increase console marketshare, because they can't. Matthew Ball, the new Xbox CSO, believes this shortage will continue for another 2 and a half years, and until Helix releases, the best they can do is get the current console playerbase excited for the future so they can return/stay subscribed, and/or purchase games in the Xbox ecosystem to stop the bleeding. Having a LE X25 console is another thing to get console players excited for the future, but we know that thing is gonna be STUPID limited in supply lol.

Definitely! Which is a breath of fresh air. Even Matthew Ball came out quickly to address some misinformation on an interview he did regarding in-game ads.

Something the old guard would NEVER have done.

There have been talks about an ad tier of Game Pass for a year or 2 at this point. Unlike TV shows/movies/music having ads play during the middle of playing a game can be very disruptive. Maybe have it play 2-3 minutes of ads when you first open a game?

I'm guessing she puts Obsidian and maybe even an assistance studio like Eidos Montreal on Fallout 5 or a New Vegas like Fallout game right away instead of letting Bethesda wait until TES releases in probably 2028 or 2029 to even start Fallout 5, with release being like 2034 in that scenario. They need big moneymakers and they need them fast, and Avowed and Outer Worlds 2 both performed under Xbox expectations, it's just good business to put Obsidian on Fallout when their last Fallout game sold like 12m and Fallout itself has since grown significantly in popularity with 4 reportedly selling over 30 million since it released. The rumored and leaked Fallout 3 remake will be out within a year probably, which can hold people off until Obsidian can get their Fallout finished.
