"Gamepass is the greatest value for money I've ever seen in my life."
Today:
"We will end this fiscal year at about a 3% accountability margin, down year-over-year. Excluding Activision Blizzard King, over the past five years, we have spent over $20 billion on ongoing investments in our content, platform,..."
Yeah I 100% believe that changes will come to gamepass.
Day1 releases on gamepass is too costly, for AAA games.
I can also imagine that the PC side, of gamepass will see subscriptions match the xbox console prices.
Like why would the PC one just be cheaper?
I don't think they will scrap it.... but maybe Day1 goes away.
Remember all the threads about how Sustainable gamepass model was back in the day?
I think Yoshida even came out and stated something like :
"this isn't sustainable for its price, we looked into this, and if we did something similar it would need to be priced much higher".
(not a direct quote, I'm going by memory here, just the essence of what he said)

Better to just delay releases for like 6 months or a year instead of putting games into it day one.

They lose millions of sales everytime they release a game day one.
PS+ Premium $20/month, No day one first party, few day one third party.
GPU: $22/month, day one first party, lots of day one third party.
The profit margin difference between these two services must be huge. And PC gamepass getting everything day one at just $14/month is absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention all the ways people can get gamepass even cheaper.
And last we heard PS+ had 47m subs and Gamepass 34m across all tiers. Admittedly GP might be weighted more towards higher tiers than PS+ but...
Actually, now that I look at it, they have already removed day one Gamepass releases for the Premium tier, it now says added within 12 months of release. Pricing is pretty good where it currently is for Ultimate, Premium, and Essential, $23, $15, and $10, maybe tweak Ultimate up a dollar or two soonish.
The main thing that needs to be done now is removing day one releases from PC Gamepass and price matching Premium tier on console at $15. PC gamers need to be paying the $23 for day one releases just like console people do. The other thing I would consider doing is increasing the window after release for Premium and PC tier from within 1 year to within 2 years for the really big titles, Halo. Gears, Forza Horizon, TES 6, Fallout, etc, gets more people to upgrade to Ultimate or buy the big games that way.
