Again, it's not just about the money. It's about Platinum wanting her out just because. It's about Platinum lying publicly and blaming Hellena's schedule for her abscence in the game. And sure, it's about Platinum humilliating a person by offering her a ridiculous number and only accepting to pay her the so called "industry standard" after she writte a letter to motherfucking Hideki Kamiya.

I don't know, Chrkeller. If you don't want to support the boycott, that's fine. If you think she shouldn't have called for the boycott in the first place, that's fine. If you think Hellena shouldn't have picked on Jennifer, that's fine. But don't reduce the matter to just "she refused the money and now she's pissed". Is far more than that. It's about dignity and calling a company out for doing something bad.

Maybe Platinum had a reason for wanting her out?  Seems to me nobody has specifics, just her view.  People can boycott all they want.  I'll be enjoying a superb game because her career isn't my problem.

Even if there was a reason (and OF COURSE THERE WAS A REASON, whathever that may be), the humilliation, the lying and the bad faith in putting the blame on her with that lie remains.

Then feel free to boycott.  To each their own.  I just don't see the major issue the requires my personal involvement.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

What should they have said then? "We dont want Helena anymore, we want Jennifer"

Yeah, that wouldnt be humiliating at all...

They could have:

- Said nothing (best option, probably wouldn't have triggered Hellena given the moment she decided to talk)

- Said anything but putting the blame on her

- Given a generic PR answer and move on

They decided to just  lie and say the fans of the game and the character that her iconic voice actress just didn't want to make room in her schedule to work on Bayonetta 3. Literally the worst course of action and a direct attack on her AFTER humilliating her before.

Yeah say nothing, because that worked wonders for the Bayonetta 2 exclusivity outrage.

Im trying to find the post where PG gives the reason, but the Helena video has just buried it. However I did see "various overlapping circumstances" That sounds like a generic PR answer to me. Dont see how that blames her. She wanted more than 4K, they didnt want to pay her that. Well isnt that a overlapping circumstance?

Because what she says makes sense and her timming to speak out checks out with the previous PG declarations on the matter. The only thing we got from Platinum on the other hand... Was Kamiya mumbling generic stuff on Twitter (followed by his classic hate phrases).

If what Platinum said was true... I mean... That excuse is absolutely harmless by itself. "She had schedule conflicts". It's not our fault, it's not her fault: these things happen. Moving on. If that was the truth, there would be no reason for Hellena to be mad at all.

That's why I decide to believe her rather than Platinum Games. I think there's more evidence on her side. Plus, she is an individual that claims to have been humilliated by a big company. I know that this last fact is not rational, but I can't deny I have a tendency to position myself on the weak side.

I won't. I don' think boycotting would get this matter anywhere.

You are still missing the point I'm trying to convey to you. You said she was mad because she didn't get paid what she wanted. And I'm trying to tell you that the reason is far more complicated than that. That's all. I don't want you to boycott the game. I want you to reduce the situation of this person to a simple tantrum over some dolars.

I'm not trying to simply anything.  I know her story and only her story.  I have no idea what really happened.

What a thread, you guys really deserve to have silent protagonists , the level of disrespect. You guys deserve voice acting for every game like link in zelda games, that is basicly a random dude moaning 10 diferrent ways.

And you deserve to only have a black screen with voice actors reading lines for whatever they want in pay...

If they wanted to give a no disclosure reason without faulting her they could even go to "we didn't meet an agreement in the project" or even taking heat for it giving a reason that would fault themselves. But when you lie and shift blame it is expected to see backlash, well at least from the person that have been damaged, since we are seeing more people siding against her here.
