Didn't know getting outsold weekly and monthly on NPD/UK reports means its closing the gap now either.

Logic and definition of words keeps shifting on the internet forums these days.

The PS5 outsold the XBS in the US in August according to NPD, outsold the XBS in the last few weeks there too according to VGChartz and in the UK the PS5 is also selling better than the XBS.

PS5 has been best selling console in UK since April up to now and been selling more than X/S in US NPD since June.

You're confusing me. That's basically what I said.

Oh, wait I misunderstood your previous comment and thought you were disagreeing with the other user. Well then I agree.

That's a lot more than the PS4's peak year though right?

PS4's peak year was about 20 million.

@Proxy-Pie That's actually higher than any home console for a single FY. Only system that has surpassed 30m in a single FY was the DS doing it on two occasions. Important to keep in mind the DS was only about $130 (and it would be more common for households to have more than 1 DS as opposed to more than 1 PS5). It's also worth pointing out that the DS had more worldwide appeal whereas while the PS5 has good numbers in the US, Europe & RoTW, it is basically non-existent in Japan (where the DS sold over 33 million).

Yes, PS4's peak year was 20.2M.

As of March 31 2017 the PS4 sold 60 million units. At the end of last FY, Sony stated that they expect the PS5 to pass the PS4 alligned sales by the end of March 2017.

So how many consoles would they have to ship in FY 23 if they ship 18 million this FY?

Well 19 million plus 18 million puts them around 37 million. In order to beat PS4 in 2017 they would have to ship 23 to 24 million to achieve that. This is of course possible and and easier to do than 30 million. So we have about 6 million systems to debate over.

I for one believe they could sell them easily. The actual issue is if they can produce enough stock realistically. This is the real debate

I wish them luck! :D
That’s be almost the combined sales Gamecube, Wii U, and Virtual Boy combined, minus the total sales of the Turbografx 16 all in a single year. Is it fiscal? I bet it’s fiscal!

For a second there I thought this was the post when you’re high thread.
