Forums - Gaming - Microsoft's Blizzard deal, fans should be worried

I fucking despise the aqusition shit but since IDGAF about activision. They are shit anyway. This topic comes across as if Jim Ryan himself has an account here.  Sony has Bungie who can make a new big budget money making FPS aside from Destiny if they want. They have a lot of dormant FPS IPs. CoD being only on Xbox is about as bad as when The Show was only on PS. Destiny may remain multi platform but future IPs probably won't be. WIll you complain then?

This is how you tell the truth. 100% agree with all this.

So I guess you were one of those oblivious ones and was content with the offering last gen . Yeah it's good to have more games on gamepass, but you'll be getting less exclusives than what you should be getting. If you own multiple consoles it's no issue, but if I was strictly on xbox i'd be pissed.

I was oblivious to what exactly?. MS buying spree is only starting to show its fruit and its all thanks to last gen why they have done this so whats your point here? this is the current gen not last gen.

Also im a PC gamer so it means more games on my gamepass sub how is that a bad thing for me or for xbox gamers?.

Is your whole flame bait thread based on last gen??. And as an only xbox owner you would be happy, but your not your a PS owner so clearly your unhappy about this.

I own a ps5 and series s. I bought the series s for the love of tech. It's impressive what they've managed to fit inside the tiny box. More impressive than the games coming for it , for now anyway.

The RTX 4090, a GPU is bigger than the Series S, a complete system.

It should be bigger, it's close to 48 times faster (191 tflops vs 4 tflops) 2.4x the RAM and over 5 times more expensive (starting at 1599)

I wouldn't say so actually. XB fans have kept buying the system over and over with just the F,G,H, title rotation. They don't care near as much about diversity as PS gamers do. XB gamers love the burgers, and PS gamers love the buffet.

Who should've been worried, and rightfully so, were PS gamers when Plus was being revamped. Which many were, but luckily found out it was mostly for nothing as PS didn't copy Game Pass. Which is quite ironic because it seemed like XB gamers and management thought PS was going to copy Game Pass, only to then 180 and say it was never going to be Game Pass once they realized Sony had other, better plans. The main plan being, change little, and keep producing more and more of the highest quality, diverse, AAA bangers.

What XB gamers should be worried about is Sony live service. If Sony makes some decent games, or even one MTX goliath, and wants to put it on Game Pass, then what? Playing that game, or those games on XB, would work against MS and Game Pass interests.

Because PS+ is required for multiplayer.

And? how many of them same PS gamers praised Sonys answer to gamepass?. Not only that if like you say so many xbox gamers care just since its gamepass why didnt they all sub to the service then?. the was what 50 mill xbox ones last gen?.

Clearly this has nothing to do with PS gamers not caring about this deal and only xbox gamepass gamers, as Ps gamers very much care about this deal as this deal is great for Xbox users and Pc users and gamepass users. OP is just re using another thread for the sake of it and making console waring. you cant see that sorry for you.

Has nothing to do with console wars. It's just the honest truth and  reality of what to expect, and I wish more people from the xbox side spoke out against it. I guess people are more happy to get more games  cheaper and paying less , rather than paying more but getting more exclusives in the end .  But I do wonder if more people looked deeper into it, what the reactions would be like from the xbox xommunity.  And in terms of microsoft already stepping up their first party line up and aquisitions, I haven't  really seen anything AAA or game of year material that shows how serious they are to compete with nintendo and sony.

When were the Sony masses ever praising the Plus revamp before it launched? Most seemed worried PS would follow XB and make their own Game Pass, yet Sony decided to revamp the service anyway.

The only time I remember PS gamers praising Plus recently was when they found out it wasn't going to be Game Pass.

Truth ended up being it was more about combining PS Now game streaming with Plus. Then they decided to throw in some recent as well as past gen games for those who'd be interested as an option.

Buying the pub should not impact folks that are not invested in that platform. Likely outcome is the brands under MS will just erode over time like most things they purchase.

For decades people complained Microsoft lacked exclusives. - It was relevant constructive criticism.

Now people are complaining Microsoft is going to have exclusives? You should not get the right to complain about both.

Fact of the matter is, there is only a finite amount of high-grade, video game development talent in the video game market... And one of the best ways to acquire that talent is to buy it, one way or another. Employees are an investment.

Building their own studios will just take talent from other studios (Likely from Sony, Nintendo and independents) with no guarantee of success... Having a few high-grade talented individuals taking charge will still require recruitment and training of new staff, new infrastructure and more.

Buying already established studios brings with it not only those talented employees, but technologies like game engines (idTech, Creation Engine, Forza Tech, Slipspace, Havok etc'), infrastructure, industry connections (I.E. Outsourced art, support etc') and of course... Sometimes the real value which is intellectual property.

As primarily a PC gamer, these purchases haven't phased me.

And as a PS5 and Switch owner, these acquisitions by Microsoft are a good thing, it's going to force Sony and Nintendo to invest far more heavily into their respective platforms in order to compete or loose marketshare.
Ultimately, capitalism should allow the consumer to benefit.

Buying it is actually the worst way to get it. People leave or get laid off esp in those situations and you are left with a name that means nothing unless you can reload the company with equal or better talent. Rare bought by MS and took almost 20 years to have anything that did well. They floundered for nearly 2 decades. Building studios is the best way to build talent and IPs. Nintendo has mostly done that for 40 years. Nintendo has bought 2 studios in 15 years but didn't rely solely on name alone but expanded Monolith to 4 studios. Make their own new IPs and assist studios with Nintendo's other IPs. While MS and Sony have shut down a bunch of studios they bought. EA is another that shut down a bunch of bought studios. Now sitting on mountains of IPs they plan to let rot. Sony and MS have done the same thing.

Not a video game studio but reminds me of when Red Ventures bought Giant Bomb, the talent that made that site what it was all left. They hired internet trendy people to be the new hosts and it's been floundering since.
