Why would it go to gamepass because of this? SE owns the IP and they make that decision as the publisher, not Tri-Ace. SO6 is out this month so if you're interested you can actually "Buy" this game.

Didn't realize they shut the game down that long ago. I un-installed it to conserve space on my phone and was going to re-install it later, but I guess I forgot, and 2+ years passed?

I don't remember if it was fun, but it was nice to see some of the characters in 3D.

Anyway, I would imagine Square Enix paid them a good amount for Valkyrie Elysium and Star Ocean 6.

tri-Ace is definitely getting paid for Star Ocean 6. They did not develop VALKYRIE ELYSIUM though and SE owns the VALKYRIE IP so no license fees either.

In your opinion, sure but what does that have to do with SO6?

The last two So games reception was rather bad with the last one barely getting good reviews while it releases in a busy time with a ton of game including P5 Royale. The game has to be excellent to do well.
