So we have Ishin in february, Gaiden and 8.... loving it. I believe Gaiden will be action and 8 turn based.

Still doing cross-gen in 2024 for games like this seems like a clear waste of resources since software sales on the PS4 and especially Xbox One are gonna be minuscule by then. I really hope this is just Sega being stupid and there's pretty much nothing else of note still cross-gen by then other than sports titles. It wouldn't surprise me if the PS4 and Xbox One versions end up getting cancelled later on.

For the game itself I would like to try this series at some point, it seems full of silly fun.

Perhaps they have not much ambition in the technical side so the porting for last gen isn't a hussle to them.

Perhaps though I think there's no way the return on investment on the last gen versions if they go through with them is gonna be good. It would be interesting to see how it runs on them though.

Was waiting for a Like A Dragon 2 announcment. Hope its as epic as the first one

Not sure. Fifa games and the like got releases on platform that was already 2 gens off, I think there was enough money on the table for it. Sales will tell =p

My guess is games like those are a special case where they keep selling well enough on old hardware due to sales in the developing world and among poor people for it to be worth it. It's like how Just Dance kept selling enough on the Wii for it to worth it for a long time with Just Dance 2020 being the last one that had a version for it.

Exactly, and perhaps they think they have this situation for Yakuza (but I'm more thinking like you that it is probable that they won't sell much on last gen on 2024).

It would be interesting as a sales potential test. Though I wouldn't be surprised if it failed to reach even 10k on Xbox One.

Awesome that they finally announced this 16 year old PS2 game.
