Exactly, and perhaps they think they have this situation for Yakuza (but I'm more thinking like you that it is probable that they won't sell much on last gen on 2024).

It would be interesting as a sales potential test. Though I wouldn't be surprised if it failed to reach even 10k on Xbox One.

True, even more with GP. I don't think there will be that much sales.

Awesome that they finally announced this 16 year old PS2 game.

As far as I know even in the west it was Yakuza 2 not Like a Dragon 2.

In Japan the franchise was always called Like a Dragon. Yakuza 2 is Like a Dragon 2 in Japan.

Really? So the games have never had the word Yakuza in its title in Japan? Interesting.

I always thought Yakuza: Like A Dragon was meant to be a funny name since Ichi is almost like Kiryu, who is called the Dragon, so hes kinda Like A Dragon. And that he has a dragonfish tattoo on his back, which is kinda Like A Dragon. lol

for me it was to show it was "rebooting"

the name of the studio itself is ryu ga gotoku, but translating and having the same name isn`t the same thing

Kiryu own team is team legacy I think?

Like Majima, Daigo, Taiga, Akiyama, etc? Would seem a bit OP compared to Ichiban's team, but I'd like to see Kaoru Sayama in Kiryu's team at least.

I wonder if they'll be turn based again. I haven't actually gotten round to the new turn based one yet, but it definitely appeals to me a lot more following that shift!

They did say Like A Dragon 8 will have an RPG system again.
But they also said they'll use the system that suits each title, even if they have to make it a party game.

Yakuza Will Use Whatever System Serves Its Story Even if It Means 'Making a Party Game' (ign.com)

They've always been called Ryu Ga Gotoku in Japan which translates to Like A Dragon.

But for the 7th game in Japan I saw them call it Ryu Ga Gotoku 7: Yakuza in promotional footage. But that seems to have changed for the release of the game, and the word Yakuza is no longer seen.
While for the western version they named it Yakuza: Like A Dragon.

It seems the next title will be named Like A Dragon 8 in the west.

So it won't become a FF situation where FF3 in the west was FF6 in Japan. The ppl who were newcomers to Like A Dragon are probably mostly aware by now that there were several previous Yakuza games, so the 8 shouldn't be too confusing.

And in FF case it should have been even less confusing since well there is no tie between the games, but they just wanted to avoid people thinking they would be entering to late on the franchise and wouldn't understand it, etc. But it was a different time and harder to get more info.
