You can sit down, but it's a lot harder to do lots of movement with your arms how we play. I play with ecurbj all the time over his house and whatnot, and we sit hunched forwared, resting our elbows on our knees, and I've played a little bit of Zelda on the Wii, and sitting how we sit when we play Halo is just not possible. And I don't think I could play SMG sitting down either, but that's just my $0.02 And Neos, don't call ecurbj ignorant, he's anything but. |
Right you can't play the Wii sitting down. I think you remember when I was over your crib, and we were playing Resident Evil: Umberlla Chronicles. For the love of gosh, I was standing right in front of the TV screen and the sensor bar couldn't pick up on my Wii-Mote. So I had to back up a couple of feet and just found out on to shoot, after about 15 minutes of play my arms got tired and I just dropped the Wii-mote and left.
Neos, I'm not bashing the Wii, I'm seriously backing up my claims against it. As I get use to the console, when I get a Wii. Maybe my claims will change, but going over my peeps cribs and playing it. I sense that it's a totally different experience than with a conventional controller via X360, PS3.

I really don't understand that at all. The way that you play that you described is exactly how I play all the time. Hunched over, resting my hands/elbows on my knees.
People are getting way too confused, possibly when they see Nintendo's ads of people standing and playing. Like I said earlier I don't stand for anything but GH and Wii Sports. RE4, Trauma Center, SMG, SSBB, Zelda: TP, SvR, Madden, MoH:H2, and MP3 are all games i've played sitting down resting comfortably and i've never felt awkard or uncomfortable.
Edit: just saw the post about RE:UC, haven't played that myself but using the arcade mode in MOH:H2 I had no problem sitting down. I'm guessing your sensor bar setup isn't ideal and is why you are thinking that standing is a neccessity. Once you get it set up properly you can sit down and relax just like a "traditional" controller.

I played the Wii at my cousin's house (DMeisterJ). And he knows how I felt about the Wii. When I was over there I played Wii Sports, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.
Some awesome games by the way. But for me the Wii-mote was different to grasp then others because I for one am not use to it. Unlike some rabid fanboys who love Nintendo will defintely find ways to get use to it in like 20 minutes and say its a awesome experience.
And to tell you the truth the Wii-mote is awesome itself. Maybe once I get one I can pass judgement on the experience. I'm more like telling you a personal experience from me playing it over a peeps house.

You play like that in games that use the sensor bar?
Cause whenever I had to use the bar in Zelda, I had to change how I was sitting.
You can execute a spin with a nunchuk shake as well, if you find spreading the waggle helps you cope.
The camera only bothered me very rarely. I just put it down to the fact that this game is incredibly 3D in ways that no other game I've played has been. I mean, most games do bind you to to a mostly 2D playfield, simply because gravity works that way.
And people who can't play Wii while sitting baffle me. Just rest the wrist of your wiimote-holding hand on your knee to stabilize the pointer and put your nunchuk hand wherever feels comfortable. If you don't need IR, you can leave a hand at either side for total slackness.

I pretty sure you had to least pick your arm up off your knees just to point and click to get to somewhere else on the screen. It's rather tedious. And I watched my cousin play Zelda for a couple of minutes and noticed he had to move around alot just to get himself comfortable.
Just plain and simple your arms can get tired.
| rocketpig said: Seriously, this game is f***ing up my wrist with all the shaking. I thought my years of chronic masturbation had worked out these sorts of problems but apparently I was wrong. I can play it for about 2 hours before it starts hurting badly enough to stop. Has anyone else had this problem with this game? I have played plenty of other Wii games but this is the only one that is giving me fits like this. |
Swing your arm, not your wrist.

I will try that out, never thought of it that way. Maybe its the ads that Nintendo presents makes me think what I think. Maybe I always thought Nintendo required you to stand and move your arms around like gestures to get the full experience.
idk, but I will use that technique for future reference, bro.
