I came here expecting this to be overly biased towards Nintendo, with the usual apologetics and petty arguments from the usual blinders wearing lot.

And, true to itself, the forums delivered what is now expected from it.

Way to add absolutely nothing to the thread. Congrats.

I mean, he's not wrong, it's an observation and well, yeah, it's turned into one big pissing match, with some on here forcing MS into the subject and then Valve, with the two crowds vouching for Sony/Nintendo immediately shutting down those injecting MS/Valve into the subject, it's so stupidly obvious and juvenile to watch all of this.

Both Sony/Ninty have their ups and downs, strengths and weaknesses, no one is better than the other and in all honesty, rather subjective at best. There is no one company that's head above the rest, only the die hard fans think that and it absolutely shows in this thread. Hynad actually has a point.

Even Pi pointed out that both have their differences, but no one's really bothering to go "huh, you know what Pi, you're absolutely right", because it doesn't align with their already biased to fuck viewpoints, which again, by my observation as well as Hynad's, makes it ever so obvious.

The thread should have been done and dusted well within 1 page, because it's honestly not really much of a topic, other than one to exist for becoming a pissing match, and is a pissing match on this website really worth repeating again and again and again and again and again? (definition of insanity anyone?, no?).

You know who cares about this? Insecure teenagers, who want to declare that they have left their childish ways behind them. Actual adults very much enjoy games with cartoony style as much as gorefests. So you initial declaration was that Nintendo games are for everyone but insecure teenagers and Playstation games for insecure teenagers.

when did i say that Nintendo games are for everyone? - Are you dreaming or something? OR making things up to suite your argument?

If Insecure teenagers were the only ones wanting to look at Beautiful things aka Graphics then all the adults would want ugly looking men & women.Everybody likes to look at beautiful things.

You seem to think that all of Nintendo's games are only for children. What the hell do you even base this on? Non realistic graphics are childish? Anime is apparently also childish according to you. Seriously, there are tons of anime games and shows that have mature themes and stories. No actually, most of them have that.

Mnementh's point is that you need to be seriously insecure to think games with non realistic graphics are only for children. The graphical style of a game does not determine for what age group a game is, it never did.

Go touch some grass and get a gripp on reality.

Yes he is wrong. Apparently opinions became apologetics and petty arguments from people who wear blinders. Like wtf?! It sounds like he's saying that Nintendo is shit and people who say otherwise can't see the truth and all their arguments are mute.

This more or less mirrors my thoughts on Sony first party these days

He really isn't.

All he's doing is pointing out that people in here have die-hard bias for and against each company they vouch for/vouch against, it's not that hard to see.

At the end of the day, both have theirs ups and downs, strengths and weaknesses, no one is better than the other and that's how this thread should be, instead of a pissing match of "well I claim X company is slightly better than the other" (because that's how you get a pissing match, otherwise you'd all follow Pi's example and then let the thread die out before weeks end).

I've seen Hynad shit on Nintendo and Sony before. I originally owned a PS1-3 and owned most of Ninty's handhelds including the Switch and yet I shit on both, including MS, so what of me?. I think this thread is just one big waste of time, because I've been on this site long enough to know that these kinds of threads always bring out the worst and always end up with dick measuring contests and that alone is just petty and a big waste of space.

A more productive thread would have had two threads on "what do you think Sony/Nintendo is good at?", that doesn't at all involve anyone forcefully injecting another company to shut down the other. Anything but a thread like this (it's seriously giving me 2014 flashbacks when I joined all over again).

I really can't think of a single big company out there, that doesn't have a focus group designed to see what sells and what's safe to go for.

Sony has it's own focus groups for their games, but so does Nintendo.

Have you ever seen an Anime?

what about it?

Are you pointing out the fact that older people watch Anime? - If,then also point out how in today's day and age the public is more immature and want Big Daddy Government to take care of them and not hold them responsible to their actions as adults

If you are making an effort to have the most stupid comments in this thread, congrats you a delivering it

I say Nintendo but Sony is really strong in its own way. Because Nintendo obviously has their strong longrunning IP and brings them back each system in a fresh and interesting way (doesn't always work).

As for Sony, I feel like every system the cast of characters change and they have a new pantheon of characters (new IP). I don't think that is bad, because they bring new games and sometimes they are really popular and great.

However, I think pound for pound Nintendo has the edge when it comes their first party offering. They have a way of bringing back IP and making them interesting again. And yeah, it does factor in my own bias because I really love their IP, characters, whatever you wanna call it.

Well lets see...

I hold both in high esteem personally as someone who enjoys a vast range of game types (blessing and a curse). Lately, Nintendo has offered me much more fun than Sony has. And with a wide variety at that with Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Zelda, Mario (which in of itself offers several games that play nothing alike), Astral Chain, Metroid, etc. It is not hard to see why Switch is so successful unless you are exercising willful ignorance.

On the flip side, I love Horizon, God of War, Uncharted, the FIRST LoU game, Spiderman, Ratchet and Clank, Demon Souls, etc. The difference here is that while variety can be found in Sony's line up...most of their big games are cinematic adventure types of games. To me, this is not a bad thing but to someone who doesn't like these games it is a much bigger problem. So all in all, unless most of care about is cinematic experiences...the bulk of Sony's 1st party lineup will be dull for you.

That doesn't mean Nintendo is objectively better however. As I said, I play a vast array of game types...but not everyone does. I always had a lack of understanding about the "content lulls" some people talk about regarding Nintendo...because I always had something to play. However if we open our minds...to someone likes only one or two specific game types, there will be periods where you feel like you have nothing to play as nothing at the time interests you. It isn't that the content isn't there, it is just that what is feels lackluster to that person (similar to people who don't prefer cinematic games on Sony's side).

So my answer is this...it depends on when you ask me. When comparing two consoles that are known for their first party line ups, there is no objectively correct answer if you put console war bias aside. All we can do is express how we feel at the time and respect everyone else's preferences as well.

I see, this thread has now turned into people feeling forced to apologize for choosing Nintendo.

"Which is the better first party group?"

Subjectively, it's Nintendo.
Objectively, it's Nintendo.

This isn't hard.

It isn't hard to say incorrect things, totally agree with you there.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.
