Forums - Nintendo - Predict Metroid Dread, Hardware/Software total for Switch Q3 Report 3rd Feb

Will Metroid Dread ship 3 million in it's first quarter?

Yes 15 68.18%

No 7 31.82%

Total:22

We get an Official Sales update from Nintendo on thursday 3rd February and we get numbers for new games such as Metroid Dread, Mario Party Super Stars and Pokemon BD/SP. What are your sales expectations for these three games and for Nintendo Switch overall Hardware and Software shipments?

For hardware Vgchartz data says switch sold through 2.41m in October, 3.29m in November and 5.05m in December for a FY 21-22 Q3 total of 10.75m. Personally i would be very happy if Shipments were in line with this, although down on last year it is still a huge number especially in this period of supply problems. From official information we know that switch had a great October but a disappointing November in the US and also a dissapointing December in both Japan and the US. However in Europe Switch seems to have done exceptionally well and will make up for some of the below expectation sales in Nov/Dec in Japan and the US. However Switch will fall a little bit below 10.5m because I have a feeling numbers are slightly overtracked here.

As for software this will be the biggest quarter for any single Nintendo platform ever with around 90m shipped. Metroid dread will get to 3 million (optimistic i know), MP SS will have done very well and Pokemon BD/SP will have been absolutely huge although a bit down on Pokemon SW/SH's opening of 16.06m but much bigger than Pokemon Let's go's 10.00m.

Main Predictions

NSW Hardware: 10,340,000

NSW software: 90,420,000

Metroid Dread: 3,180,0000

MP Superstars: 6,270,000

Pokemon BD/SP: 13,920,000

I think Metroid Dread will be short of 3mil, 2.5mil maybe. Don't want to set myself up for disappointment.
Will make other predictions later.

Alright, I'm going to predict totals for Switch hardware and software rather than how much they do in this quarter.

Switch Hardware Total: 103 mil

Switch Software Total: 765 mil

Metroid Dread: 2.6 mil

Mario Party Superstars: 5.7 mil

Pokémon Pretty Gemstones: 13 mil

Bonus (totals as well):

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 42.5 mil

Ring Fit Adventure: 14.2 mil

Definitely don't think Dread is going to beat the Metroid sales record in it's first quarter. I do think it'll eventually beat Metroid Prime's record though and surpass 3 million.

Switch will be 10+ million.
Metroid Dread 2 million
Pokemon BD/SP will be 10 - 12 million.
MP Superstars yeah will probably be 6-7 million.

Not gonna predict absolutely everything, especially because I'm probably not as good at doing so as some people on here lol. But some key predictions for me:

Switch HW Total: 101.7m

WarioWare: 1.3m
Metroid Dread: 2.75m
Mario Party Superstars: 6m+
BDSP: 9.5m
Big Brain Academy: No figures will be given because <1m

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 43m+ (total)
ACNH: 37m (total)
Splatoon 2: 13m+ (total)
Ring Fit Adventure: 13m+ (total)
Skyward Sword HD: 5m

If for some reason the Switch hasn't passed the Wii as of the end of the quarter, I think they'll also mention that it has with current shipments and is their best selling home console.

Nice predictions apart from Mk8D because i highly doubt it will only ship 1.4m, the bundle probaby did a million on it's own.

I'm going all out with a bold prediction. I believe in the Metroid Series.

I do too, I just don't believe gamers have changed their minds on Metroid being a more niche game. It'd be awesome if it it did hit 3 million first quarter. Definitely deserves it. It's probably my 5th favorite game on the Switch.

My prediction:
Switch shipped ~10.5M in Q3.
Metroid Dread: 3M-3.5M
Mario Party Superstars: 5M-6M
Pokemon D&P Remake: 8M-9M

Mario Kart crosses the 40M mark
Sword and Shield overtake Gold and Silver for second best selling Pokemon title
Over half of all Switch hardware sold was OLED model
