Forums - Sales - Ampere Analysis believed PS5 will outsell Xbox Series X|S 2:1 in 2022

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/ps5-will-outsell-xbox-series-consoles-2-to-1-this-year-ampere-analysis-forecasts/

They are predicting 18 million PlayStations and 9 million Xboxes. In my opinion this seems optimistic for Sony and pessimistic for Xbox, but they certainly have more data than I do.

18 million PlayStations would mean they are extremely bullish on the chip shortage ending this year

Probably more like 16 million Vs 11 million, but I also don't see Xbox outselling PlayStation this year. Their acquisitions haven't really gone into effect yet.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Patcher also has more data, doesn't stop him from making wrong conclusions

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

In six years flip those numbers.

I suppose they have access to more info than we do, but PS5 sales increasing by nearly 50% while Xbox sells the same as 2021 seems completely unrealistic to me and I wonder what their methodology is.

I agree that it's a bit optimistic for PS and pessimistic for Xbox, but I don't think it is by that much. Personally I think that Xbox will sell between 9.5-10.5M and PS will sell 16-17M. But my prediction is dependent on chips still being short and new product launches (AMD and Nvidia as well as Steam Deck). But, I did hear that Nvidia is going to delay it's new product launch (Super line of GPU's). But then Nvidia is also releasing it's Ti line and AMD is rumored to have a refresh as well.

I don't really know what's going to happen. It's kind of up in the air.

How many units did each sell 2021?

With Horizon/GT7/GOW?TLOU Remake/Possibly FF16, I think it makes sense to have high estimation for PS5 later this year, the chip shortage should start to ease meaning they'll have the some crazy Q3/Q4 numbers. Not quite switch levels but extremely high. Xbox sales are harder to predict, currently their next big release is due holiday 2022.

They were also completely wrong about their Xbox estimates this year. I'm not sure why these people are important? This is a firm founded in 2015 and everyone is acting like whatever they say is super relevant like they are the masters of the video game industry.

No :) They do not have access to more data than us, like really not.

They are just "analysing" the data and make speculations based on trends/marketshare etc.
And if you look at analysts out there, unless they are talking about something pretty obvious, they are wrong 50% of the time :)

But the one at the end that "predicted" it right, will be praised, this is very funny thing to watch.
The main issue with those "analysts" is that some big investments decisions are made based on those "predictions" by some and this is kinda fucked up.

I always invest with what I believe will be the trend and sometime I'm wrong, sometime I'm right. And so far I am very happy about the result.
If I would have follow those clowns, I would have lost some serious money...

PS5 will most definitely sell more, I doubt it’s double though.
