20th December '21 - 2nd January '22 should be week 51 and 52 2021, right? (Not week 1 2022) At least to my calendar.

OP compares two weeks of 2021 with one week (52) of 2020.

Famitsu classes it as week 52 2021 and week 1 2022.

11.73 million Switch sold the last 2 years, really incredible. I can see it reaching 30 million by the end of its life.

That was close compared to last YTD (182k difference)

Switch should overtake vgchartz estimates for PS2 in Japan when next weeks numbers are reported.

I honestly thought the pics of more ps5 stock was all some anecdotal mombo jombo. So I expected around 35k not over 70k. Good for them.

Another interesting tidbit about MK8 is that this old game sold more in 2021 than in 2020.
~900-950k vs 640k

This is despite hardware for the NSW being down YoY. So demand for MK8 is vastly outperforming. Nintendo only had a few games that could compete with MK8. I think they are intent on not releasing MK9 any time soon with these numbers. In fact they could just release MK8 for Switch 2.

Which means the Tie ratio (software units per hardware unit) is going to rise every quarter from here on out, currently at 7.33 worldwide. A couple of years ago people were unimpressed with the Switch's Tie ratio being ignorant of the fact that Software rapidly increases relative to hardware in the second half of a consoles lifespan. Although MK8D is increasing in Japan yoy it will be down globally. There is no way it will hit 10.62m this FY, probably 9 to 9.5m. Lastly Mario Kart 9 is next gen now IMO and i hope it is because imagine how good it will look on a 4K system considering how great MK8D looks on the current Switch.

Pleasantly surprised by the PS5 sales. It definitely doesn't fully make up for the previous few weeks but at least this holiday season for it isn't a total disaster for it anymore at least in regards to hardware. Hopefully it does better this year.

While the Switch ended up being down YoY it still had great sales and is an incredible success that'll get up there with the Gameboy and DS when it finishes selling. A big question is how large the drop for it will be this year since the 3DS had a small 7% decline in 2013 and then a large 38% decline the following year. A similar decline for the Switch would put it around 3.5m but with it having such a dominant position in the market combined with 2022 seeming like it'll be strong for software makes me think it should remain above 4m.

For Xbox Series I wonder if sales will taper off or if it'll keep building up a lead over the Xbox One.

Famitsu is weird.

Switch did about 5.8m hardware this year. Not too shabby at all.
