I have said this many times already, but I will keep saying it whenever I have the chance to, because it bothers me so much: lack of controller options in handheld mode. I CANNOT, for the love of God, understand, that to this day, we have only one option of joycons from Nintendo. I cannot emphasize enough how much I would appreciate the option to have some type of "retro-joycon" where the analog sticks would be completely gone, that way I could play my fighting games or 2d fast paced games in general, comfortably in handheld mode. This is probably the biggest gripe I've had with a console for a long, long time.
It's a FREAKING attachable controller, more options should be an obvious thing.

Have you tried the Hori D-pad JoyCon or the very comfortable Hori Splitpad Pro?

That was exactly what I was looking for until I read this :/

These controllers do, however, have a few drawbacks, as they lack some of the main features that make Nintendo's Joy-Con so special. To keep the price down, Hori sacrificed HD Rumble, motion control and NFC. The lack of a built-in battery also means these controllers are only useable in Handheld mode with the original model Switch

If you could use them detached it would be perfect. More comfortable controller without having to keep your hands together all the time.

It's WAY underpowered, and the interface / online services feel archaic. It's still almost like the Wii but more than a decade later, when the Wii was already outdated in that regard.

I can't complain about the games themselves though, except for the lack of F-Zero and anything Metroid Prime.

The math isn't that easy. For eg, the PS4 is 10x more powerful than the PS3, but wasn't able to run GTA V at 60fps.

I dunno, I can def see a new Switch where the games run at 4K and or more stable framerate, or even fps or 2K games running at 60, but an open world at 60fps at an acceptable graphic level still seems far from a technical perspective.

But hey, we saw modders running the Witcher 3 at 55-60fps at 540p so who knows.

The issue with the Xbox One and PS4 is they have very weak CPUs. That's why, even last gen ports, had issues hitting 60fps. You sort of see this play out with the Xbox One X versus the Xbox Series S. The Xbox One X has the edge on Series S in several aspects (More RAM, More Bandwidth, More Powerful GPU*) but Series S has substantially more powerful CPU and significantly faster storage. I've seen recent games run at higher resolution on X1X than Series S but 1X has 30fps cap and the Series S often has a 60fps cap.

*Xbox One X GPU doesn't have hardware Raytracing support.

I have a One X and a Series X. Torn because I kinda want to replace the One X with a Series S. With more modern games, the Series S is running them at a lower resolution but they're usually running better assets.

But then you have backwards compatibly and the One X runs older games and One X Enhanced games better. If only it was an easy choice. I guess the ideal would be a Series X with no disc drive at $400.

I was thinking about this earlier today. Almost made a thread.

Even in the later days of the 360 and PS3, I was pretty happy with what we had. People were always complaining about screen tearing, resolution and fps. I personally couldn't see the difference--though that might have been because of the low range TVs I always bought.

Anyway, there's such a focus on resolution and stable frame rates. I feel like, with the Wii, Switch, Dreamcast, etc., there was always some new innovation besides just power. To be quite honest, I think I'd be happier with some fresh new "gimmick" than I am with just raw power. I think that's why a lot of people love the Switch. It just seemed like such a breath of fresh air.

My biggest problem with the Switch is that it costs money, and takes up room space as a result of existing as hardware. Fortunately there's a solution which fixes both of these problems.

Other than that, I have lack of interest in Switch games, having played 1 game for about 6 hours total. however that's not really a Switch problem, it's more me being uninterested in playing new games generally, while being content playing the games that I already have.

I feel like a broken record saying it because I've been saying it since 2018 but I still think Nintendo's original games output could be a tad better. I'm at the point with the Switch though where I constantly have stuff to play and it has a very extensive library so I can't complain too much, but the fact that we might go the entire generation without an original 2D Zelda, or a new Kart game (yes I got over this one a long time ago, but at least give us something other than just Arms), or a new Pikmin, maybe even an original Donkey Kong (though there are rumors...), is kind of sad. On top of the Odyssey/BOTW/Mario Kart teams being slow as molasses since 2017 when it comes to game output. Their output could just be a little more consistent in general.

I can't complain too much though, it is by far the best console library I have. I think games like Splatoon 3, Metroid Dread, and Warioware also show that substantial sequels or series that have not yet had an original entry on Switch, will eventually make it over anyways for the most part (obviously not every series Nintendo has though, that would be hard to manage). Every other complaint I have is sort of a nitpick.

Joycon drift has been fixed supposedly in newer Switch models. OLED ones. Probably quietly new Joycons out there being sold with the fix but sadly you likely have to do serial number homework to find out.

Game clock/log like the 3DS is missing - gimme that and I'll have no complaints.

Oh and an ability to turn off the Switch remotely....hate getting up and press to hold the power button just to get the menu to shut down....

What's the point of shutting it off? When its sleeping the power usage is 0.1w, for comparison the ps4 pro uses 5w, that's 50x more power usage form the ps4 pro.

With that said I have that option on mine as I have mine hacked. Never ever used that option tough. My fridge uses 80w all the time, 0.1w is not going to affect me at all.

I have only 1 issue since the launch of the switch, where is my pikmin 4?  Pikmin 3 is my favourite game on the switch and I cant believe I have been waiting for almost 9 years for the next one.
