Very great numbers for .. PS5.

Not really.

If we look back a few weeks, the XBox Series was hovering around 110k/week, the PS was hovering around 210k/week.

Now the X sold 330k and the PS5 sold 400k.

If we assume production is still hampered by chip shortages, it really is a puzzle why MS was able to increase numbers by a factor of three, Sony only by a factor of 1.9. In absolute numbers, MS increased production by 200k, Sony less, only by 180k. Puzzling to say the least.

(I also note the SX/PS5 gap actually decreased quite some amount...)

It's not a puzzle, Series S has been readily available in most regions and is much easier to produce than the XSX/PS5. As we are approaching holidays sales are increasing for the Series S because there is stock available, Series X and PS5 are being severely limited by stock. Series S has been widely available in the UK for months, and is still in stock now.

As of right now Amazon UK has in stock:

Switch + Just Dance 2022 for £258 (Below RRP with a free game)
Switch OLED - £310
Xbox Series S - £250

PS5/XSX I have still never seen available.

I have never compared "chipcounts" of Series X, S, and PS5 but right out of the gate, Series S uses more critical (two kinds of ram chips to start with) chips than PS5, so the "easier to poduce" is simply wrong.

I don't think there is a way Series S sold so badly during the baseline 110k/weeks that stock simply accumulated over weeks and months. If the numberes are correctly guessed, then Sony blundered on the chips level, badly. I'd not even been hugely surprised, though. When "leaderboard things" started to move away from Japan to the States/Europe, I was starting to think "This won't go down well". Japan had an almost perfect record when it came to manufacturing stuff, so I wonder if they lost track in all the reshuffling of management restructuring.

This is all I saw on the Uk website. Not showing regular stock.

I'm guessing it's not showing up because you're not from the UK.

There is stock directly from amazon, I can get it delivered tomorrow.

The Series S is a lot easier to produce than the PS5/XSX. You are simply wrong and I don't know how you could think otherwise lol. It's cut down in every aspect except the CPU.

Just realized Switch is above PS5 + Xbox Series combined this week. Granted, that's off the back of a major release, but still.

Here in Oceania it's almost equal to them combined; checking EB Games, the Switch OLED, PS5, and Seies X are sold out/backordered, but you can still get a Series S, or a base Switch/Lite.
