Forums - Sales Discussion - Data analyst Ampere: Xbox Series X/S sales at 6.7 million by Sep 30th, S outselling X in key markets

From GameIndustry.biz

Data analysts Ampere says that Xbox Series S is out-selling Series X across several key markets.

GamesIndustry.biz has also seen figures that show S and X are at least 50/50 in terms of install base in major territories.

As a result of the success of Series S, which is a digital-only device, Xbox game sales are heavily digital, even compared with PS5. According to GSD data, over 90% of sales of Call of Duty: Vanguard on Xbox came as a digital download.

Ampere's latest hardware update pins Xbox Series sales at 6.7 million units as of the end of September 2021. This is versus 12.8 million for PlayStation 5.

The data firm's Piers Harding-Rolls notes that PS5 supply improved significantly during the July to September window, which saw the PlayStation console outsell Nintendo Switch across Europe during that time. PS5 also managed to outsell Nintendo's console in September in the US, according to NPD.

Without MS anouncing sales figures their numbers are just as possible ad this site.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Hmmm I feel like everyone is pretending not to see this thread.

In other words, MS must have built the most powerful console in the world, but most buyers probably didn't care about TFLOPS. On the other hand, it is not selling well overall either, so it should be difficult to paint a success story for the least expensive next generation console. Oh, and Game Pass.

Someone should be brave enough to point it out.

Is XS overtracked on Vgchartz? Such a shame Microsoft doesn't provide numbers.

It's impossible to say with certainty that these numbers given here are any closer than VGC numbers.

If Ampere is right then XS is overtracked by 1m and Switch is overtracked by 2m while PS5 is about right.

How can they think there are 3 million Switches sitting on shelves ?
