So its recent then. Well we heard just bad news from tech companies so now I wonder if we will se a chance that 8th gen catches up.

At least shipment wise the PS5 fell 400,000 behind PS4 as of September 30. Sell-through for PS5 remained higher as it is sold out, while the PS4 was readily available. I wouldn't be surprised if sell-through PS5 falls behind PS4. Xbox Series X|S has a big enough of a lead it should stay ahead of Xbox One.

So it started. I suppose that slow start for the x1 makes the sx looks better now. Still sounds like its a garanty that the ps5 falls behind. Maybe theres a big enough gap for the xbox to hold on untill supply improves.

XS is still 3rd, but its WoW growth is the best this week, more than 22% compared to more than 12% and 10% for NS and PS5 respectively.

It is very nice to see how the whole industry is doing. Even with the chip shortages, the total sales from all consoles are really good. It makes me wonder if there is a chance for next year to be as good as 2007.

Black Friday would be included in the report 3 weeks from now I believe.  In 2 weeks, Switch should have sold at least 18m total.  That's a really good amount going into Black Friday and the holiday season.  However, all reports indicate that there will be major hardware shortages during these holidays. (PS5 and X|S are in a similar boat.)  Switch is going to have a great year no matter what happens, but just how much it sells exactly will be dependent upon how much they can ship.  It's basically all going to get bought.

I agree with you Liquid, this is a fantastic year. It is easy to lose sight of how big this year is when you compare it to Last year for the Switch or the DS. Here is a chart showing each console, how much they have sold up to nov 6, the switch is currently the third highest of all the years of all the consoles tracked by VGChartz.

It's a shame to see all parties held back by the chip shortage; all that horsepower and no room to gallop.

Still, Nintendo are still forecasting 24m for the FY; can someone who knows about this stuff confirm whether a company like Nintendo would by now already have the parts secured for what they're going to sell in the next 4.5 months?

Your numbers aren't entirely in line with VGC numbers trunks has posted above.

Switch sold 17.13m by Nov 6th 2021 not 17.82m. This puts 2021 Switch in 5th.

Looks like Switch is less than 1m behind last year according to your chart.  That gap definitely has to widen though considering Nintendo had to adjust their forecast downward.  The demand is there.  The supply won't be there.  It will still be a good year regardless of that.

The chart is wrong, Switch is 1.6m behind last year.

Holiday will be funny with everyone supply constrained.
