The 360 still has a few lingering TBA 2008s, too. Alan Wake is one of them. My point is that everyone talks about this diversity but most of the games are either TBA or 2009 at this point.

Since we're talking about holiday 2008, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to keep talking about these mystery games. It also doesn't make sense to add in MGS4 or Haze when we would then have to toss in Too Human and NG2. In fact, we shouldn't really be talking about this at all until E3 in July. Then we'll have a more concrete idea of what is really releasing and what might be vaporware.

Exactly, that is when we will get a clear picture of all three consoles holidays plan (though there might be some Sony stuff at the May 6th event). There is of course Ubidays, which could announce some exclusives (though unlikely) but that will give a better impression of the overall holiday line up

Also, isn't Splinter Cell conviction a 360 exclusvie for this year?

Yeah, forgot about SC:C.

Funny thing is that Nintendo has announced virtually nothing about holiday 2008 yet. Somehow I doubt that they're going to try to ride Wii Fit into 2009. There will be some big announcements by all three camps. MS in particular needs some serious announcements to steer interest back in their direction or they have a chance of becoming entirely irrelevent. But I should expect nothing... The Xbox division has never failed to disappoint.

Well, in a recentish GT TV, reggie said that they will be announcing something big at E3, but who knows what? However, I can't see M$ announcing much for this year, but I would not be hugely suprised to hear some stuff about that Halo game Peter Jackson is working on

It's absolutely unbelievable how Sony manages it's PS3 business.

It's holiday schedule is ridiculous:

LBP: Unproven. Is more catered to a Wii audience.
Resistance 2: Sequel to a mediocre shooter (yes I played it) that only sold so much because it was packed in.
SOCOM: Not that big anymore.
Motorstorm 2: Sales blown up due to pack-ins. Plus since when is the sequel to an off road racer a system seller.

The only big thing I see is Killzone 2. But the 1st game was mediocre and to have a FPS as a system seller sounds like wanting to take out Nintendo with a platformer.
Sure I was a bit harsh about Motorstorm and Resistance and I know lots of people liked the games, but even big Sony fans must admit that these series started on PS3, so their fans already have a PS3. GeoW has that problem as well, but is much and much bigger.

I really don't see how Sony must win the very important American Christmas spending from Microsoft that has GeoW2, Fable 2, Alan Wake, GTA4 excl. content, Banjo etc.

Where the f*ck are GT5 and FF13????

"Resistance 2: 96"

Hell no! That's like saying it will be better than all the GTAs. Hell no.

Resistance 1 is only in the 80s range at the moment. Don't go overboard.

Damn things have changed since 2009 began. Here are my new visions for the end of the generation.

Wii: 135 mil

Ps3: 85 mil

360: 60 mil

True Genius

The only real competition for Gears 2 is GTA 4, and maybe Fable 2.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

In all honesty. This thread should be Resistance 2, KZ2 and the like have serious competition in GOW 2. I expect gears to outsell all those comfortably.

I expect the ratings on Metacritic to look something like this:

Resistance 2: 96
GeoW2: 94
SOCOM: Confrontation: 89
Killzone 2: 85

Jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja, or like you say... lololololololololololol. I mean, is a good shooter but, i really doubt than can be that good.

End of 2011 (made 02/01/11)
Wii: 99.453 m
Xbox 360: 67.837 m
Ps 3: 60.726 m

Best Games/Serie of the Generation

Both consoles have a pretty impressive line-up for this fall and winter (although I agree with rocketpig in that Sony's isn't as diverse as some make it out to be). But to answer the original post's question, Gears of War 2 may outperform the original in terms of lifetime sales, but I doubt it will move that many new consoles. the folks who are into that sort of game, i.e. the visually gorgeous shooters, probably already have a 360. If that genre is really your thing, the 360's already given you plenty of incentive to jump on board, starting with the first Gears of War. If consumers haven't bitten yet, I doubt a whole lot will with Gears 2's release.

Question :
Do you think that GoW2 will outsell GoW1 ( i mean LTD) ?

Gears of War 2 will sell a minimum of 6 million that exceeds Gears of War LTD of 5.1million. Gears of War 2 could reach up to 8 million copies when all the numbers are in by the time the 360 ends.

BTW: I wonder if Gears of War 3 will be on the XBox 360 or will it be more likely a launch title on the new XBox?

I doubt that anything on PS3 will affect the sales of a game that comes out on the XBOX 360 and vice versa. All of those games mentioned, except for LittleBigPlanet, appeal most to hardcore gamers (or perhaps I should call those gamers dedicated gamers since the definition of hardcore varies) I hardcore/dedicated gamers will do whatever they have to to get all the games they want. I know I will, and I am not rich.
