Latest MS report also paints a very sad picture. My guess is that the 30m number that was individual that at least tried it. Like the $1 deals and free 3 month trials.

I think the number you paint might be a cut off of some required paid amount a year to be considered a concurrent sub. My guess is that it's still not a full year paid. The ones paying a full year comcurrnetly is a very small part of the 18m.

TIL a 166% increase in hardware revenue and a 2% growth in services (versus lockdown 2020, where most companies are seeing services drop YoY) are “sad” numbers. And that 2% would have been even higher had there not been so many delays across the industry.

missing their internal goals for GamePass is not a good look on the surface, but not a big deal in reality. It was missed by like 10% and Halo got delayed.

With Hardware being sold at loss I'm not sure if a 166% growth in hardware revenue followed by only 2% increase in services is exactly a good thing. Have their software sales also decreased ?

Not sure why the value (to the gamer) of gamepass is under scrutiny again. There's no denying the value proposition right now is immense to the subscriber. Yet that's normal for the customer acquisition phase of a new service. (Except for Stadia lol)

Still no numbers, only MS admitted not reaching their internal target for growth despite the games market experiencing it's highest growth recorded since 2012 (up +23.1% year on year, the highest growth for the Market since Newzoo began tracking revenues in 2012)
Although most of that growth is on mobile platforms, and of that growth, most is in casino games...

Anyway this would be the time gamepass would be experiencing explosive growth if it really was that desirable. If MS stays silent about subscription numbers after Halo and FH5 have dropped, it's not looking all that great. But I suspect we'll get some engagement numbers, hours played and peak subscriber count for the holidays. It would be useful to get revenue numbers, much easier to see where gamepass is going that way.

Hmm... Let's see... In the last 3 months GamePass has gotten:

Flight Simulator - 90
Psychonauts 2 - 87
Hades - 93
The Forgotten City - 85
Scarlet Nexus - 80
The Artful Escape - 83
Subnautica: Below Zero - 82
Dirt 5 - 81
Art of Rally - 80
Back 4 Blood - 78
Omno - 77
Lemnis Gate - 77
Age of Empires IV - 83

That is basically $45 which, btw, gives you the ability to play these games anywhere.

To put that into perspective, that is basically the price of KENA (80).

Let's see where you take these scores from:

- Flight simulator: 90 (XSX MC)

- Psychonauts 2: 87 (XSX MC)

- Hades: 93 (XSX MC)

- Forgotten City: 85 (PC MC  - XSX was higher)

- Scarlet Nexus 80 (PS4 MC - XSX was lower, and so was the PC)

- Artful Escape: 83 (this is wrong, it's 81 on XSX, 80 on PC and One)

- Subnautica: 82 (PC MC - XSX was higher)

- Dirt 5: 81 (XSX MC)

- Art of rally: 80 (XSX MC)

- Back 4 Blood: 78 (PC MC - XSX was lower)

- Omno: 77 (XSX MC)

- Lemnis: 77 (PC MC - XSX was higher)

- AoE IV: 83 (PC MC - but it's only on PC for now)

I don't understand why you're not consistent with the platform you choose to make your point.

Well, when talking about scores, you are supposed to take the one with more reviews, but if it makes you feel any better, I can totally put the score for every platform.

Flight Simulator - (90 - 91)
Psychonauts 2 - (87 - 87 - 89)
Hades - (93 - 93 - 93)
The Forgotten City - (85 - 85 - 86)
Scarlet Nexus - (77 - 79 - 80)
The Artful Escape - (80 - 80 - 81) *I had this one wrong, my apologies.
Subnautica: Below Zero - (76 - 79 - 82 - 83)
Dirt 5 - (72 - 79- 80 - 81 - 83)
Art of Rally - (73 - 79 - 80)
Back 4 Blood - (75 - 76 - 78)
Omno - (75 - 77 - 82)
Lemnis Gate - (76 - 77 - 78)
Age of Empires IV - 83

Now, exactly how does that go against my point again?

He put the score with the most amount of reviews, which reflects the quality of the game more, not the platform. Platform really doesn't matter unless there is a stark difference in performance, which there usually isn't. It still doesn't change the the point, Game Pass has quality games on the service.

There are still mistakes, I don't understand how you check the scores

His list doesn't show that, I mean besides Psychonauts which is a day one GP game, the remaining isn't that great, or came to the GP several months after realease.

Well, if you take a look at the games currently on Game Pass and still truly think that "it is not that great" then I guess there is nothing else that I could tell you.

I didn't say that. I was responding to the "look what came to the service in the last 3 months".

Yes, overall the games are great. Never said it wasn't.

i like how you guys nitpick metacritic or opencritic scores

So only Psychnauts 2 is quality? lmao You were the one arguing in an article about meta scores mean everything about a game, and several of these games are reviewed 80+ so are you going against what you said earlier? Then define to us what makes each game on that list NOT quality then. Let's not forgot how many games he didn't mention, and what he provided was only a sample of what has released on Game Pass.
