Microsoft seemingly stealth-cancelling the Xbox One version of Flight Simulator (or outsourcing it/making two separate versions), and not mentioning anything about an Xbox One version for Hell Blade 2 makes me think it won't be CrossGen. But it isn't coming out anytime soon.

Except they never announced it for Xbox One. People and the Internet made up this, they just said it would come later on Xbox console and always talked about Xbox Series, never mentioned Xbox One generation.
If both games come to Xbox One, it is good for the Xbox One owners anyway but I highly doubt it. Like someone already said, the game will be out on PC day one + Series X and S.

Someone spilled the beans

Only the Xbox Series X and S versions were confirmed, despite a (now deleted) post on the official support website earlier in the year stating it was "coming to Xbox One at a later date", and that lead software engineer Martial Bossard originally explaining to Windows Central how development on the Xbox One version would benefit PC development.

"We are trying to have the best visuals on every single platform, and it's another layer of optimisation," he explained.

"By the way, the Xbox will help us to optimise the product, so it will also be a benefit for PC. There is nothing PC will lose from the Xbox. It's basically the opposite. We're doing the work to have a better experience on the Xbox family, then we will improve the PC version at the same time."

That second quote is already confirmed to be false

No one spilled the beans.

Like I said. Made up by people and the Internet. If your ONLY quote of what "you" call an official announcement is something that someone randomly posted on a "support" forum and deleted cause it was actually inaccurate (half of the people working at support have no idea what they are talking to, but even without that), I believe you actually just proving what I said.

- Microsoft NEVER officially said it would release on Xbox One. Simple as that. And saying that they "stealthily" 'cancelled' something they never announced in the first place is also made up obviously.

The rest of your post is not even related anyway and does not even mention Xbox One specifically (which is the topic here...). Again, Internet... And how to ballon up everything :)

Hard to say, I guess not.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I never believed it would be, just showing you where the rumor started. I'll be amazed if it runs well on Series S with 10GB ram.

Anyway back on topic. Hellblade 2, likely not, but it will have a PC version and when xCloud is up you will be able to stream it to XBox One consoles. But I don't think it will get a downloadable XBox One release, seems unnecessary by the time it comes out.

Man it would be funny after all that drama if Sony actually ends up supporting cross play longer with more titles.

I think Hellblade is a Q3/4 2021 title and that falls outside the timeline Booty was quoted for cross gen so I’ll say no.

I kinda hope it isn't.

I'm thinking of getting an Xbox Series X down the line, and Hellblade 2 is the game I want most for it out of what has been announced, and it would be really disappointing if it's not a full next gen experience. Most games being crossgen really dampens my desire to get a 9th gen console.

I guess it will depend on what MS wants to do with it from a PR perspective. Now that Sony started the whole "hey, look at this shiny game that wouldn't be possible on last-gen consoles!" MS might want to take advantage of that trend to give exclusive enthusiasts a reason to upgrade.

Bold: I see, thanks for pointing me out how this rumor started :) For the Series S, if they can make it work on the X, it will run on the S even with less memory. FS2020 can run on a 8 GB machine with Windows after all, granted the settings are lower. Of course they will need to downgrade other things but overall it will not be an issue. There is no way this could run on the Xbox One tho...

But yah on the topic, they will not downgrade anything imo (like you, I believe GamePass + PC is way enough).

Side note: I'm really happy Sony did that for Horizon tho, cause I do not think I'm going to get my hand on a Play Station Five before this game come out and I want to play it on day one

I doubt it, its using Unreal Engine 5, and most likely coming out sometime in 2023. If the rumors are true, I could see Starfield being the last cross gen release, which also lines up with Microsoft's two year window.

It will be interesting to see whether MS mirrors Sony in clinging to their last gen machine or moves on and commits to the 9th gen more quickly.
