Famitsu – Hardware

Another strong week for Switch, selling about 2.5 times what it did last year for this week. RE8 has a pretty decent hold. I wasn't sure if it would take the #1 spot again.

The Switch train continues! And one week away from MH:Rise passing Momotaro as Switch's top selling third party game at retail in Japan.
Love the ~100k baseline Switch has now.

Very good week for Switch, the Lite to hybrid ratio suggests normal stocks. PS5 taking a bit of a dip.

Question for you guys, now that PS5 is ahead LTD, do you think the PS5 vs PS4 table is still relevant or interesting?

No

While it's not so interesting now, I think it will be later on, when the PS4 sold better than it did in this point of its life. If you don't want to update it every week that's fine, but I'd still like to see how they stack up throughout the year.

Then again, I'm a pretty big stat freak so maybe it's just me

I means its interesting but nothing to worry about putting time into if you can't be bothered. PS5 is well ahead now and won't be loosing that lead anytime soon. 

Is this the week PS5 launched in China? Maybe part of the reason for the very low Playstation 5 numbers

This doesn't mean that there is more demand for Switch consoles this year. Last year's week suffered from heavy shortages. The upcoming 2020 weeks will jump back to around 100k, which is about the same what we see this year.

So Week 2 Resident Evil: Village is below 45K physical on the PS5.. struggling to think that there will be many games this year surpassing 100K sales on the PS5. We can expect Japanese publishers to continue providing PS4 support well into 2023 at this point.
