Nintendo just announced a new game, releasing June 11th of this year: Game Builder Garage!

Eshop page: Game Builder Garage for Nintendo Switch - Nintendo Game Details

The game is described as "Programming made fun!". It combines a simple tutorial-ized programming suite with the ability to create many game projects of different kinds. To me, it kind of looks like Mario Maker 2's complexity mixed with the generalized function of a LABO set's software component.

I swear, Nintendo, if you make programming so simple that my major becomes worthless .... Fuck you. /s

In all seriousness, very interesting looking title. I want to say it looks cool, but I'm also a bit nervous to see how easy it is to use, but also how complex and enthralling the games in it can be.

"Programming made fun!".

Ha, take that programmers. Your skills are worthless now.

 I've never been huge on "make your own game / game makers" games, but im still curious about this, so Ill be looking forward to a trailer.

Can't wait for all the hentai games people will make from this

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

that looks fun! Can't wait to try this and also see what others make

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Don't know if it will be a good game, but Nintendo getting creative again. Interesting concept

Looks like they took the LABO creation toolset and removed the cardboard element, which I guess does make it more accessible.

I'm not really into games based around user generated content so it's not for me, but if LABO is indication some folks will make some nifty stuff with it.

Amazing!

Hahaha good /s part,  this thing about making programing fun always ends up hyping up the kids then dissapointing them, the kids have some good thinking abilities and this tool somewhat helps in their develepement, where we have to recognize the inventive and incredible way of imagining to create some of the user generated content, I certainly couldn't come up with what they do a lot of times in games like Mario Maker and others, but when they discover that at professional level the majority of programming languages aren't  "node-based visual programming languages" like this one or "visual logic puzzle game development environment" like some others, but a lot of lines of computer code mainly containing arithmetic and logical operations, they will end up chosing something different for a career since a lot of people try to "avoid maths" at all costs.

As for the game itself, while it could be a surprise and an excelent user content created game and be succesfull, I keep thinking that they could exploit more the Wario micro game franchises, there were tons of user generated content in the wii and DS era.

It's good that they got this out of the way before E3 instead of announcing it there, as it frankly wouldn't have belonged.

They've actually been good like that this generation, keeping stuff like this, LABO, Ring Fit, etc separate instead of lumping them into Directs where people tune in to see core games.
