Forums - Gaming Discussion - It's do or die time for Bioware's Anthem Next | Update: Development shuts down

A few more years and a couple more mess-ups because of EA's meddling and Bioware will be history. Another one for the impressive graveyard of talent that EA has been building since the '90s.

Not to defend EA, but in this case, it seems Bioware itself was having issues. EA forcing Frostbite on them and going all in on GaaS certainly didn't help, but infighting between Edmonton and Austin, grueling production that drove away a lot of employees, and a lack of clear vision seems to have doomed Anthem before it launched.

This article is a couple of years old, written two months after Anthem finally launched, but still seems spot-on for the issues that plagued Anthem.

HAHAHAHA! This is what all these shitty GaaS games deserve. Man, we now live in a time where there are physical copies of Evolve and Battleborn you can't do anything with. Soon Anthem and Avengers will join em. These games are so anti-consumer. They should not exist in the first place.

100% this.

Looks like this scared them straight and are focusing again on single player and maybe zero microtransactions. At least untill they build enough good will again to try and fuck consumers again.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.
