Gamestop Employees Scalping PS5 And Xbox Series X Pre-Orders Making $THOUSANDS$ | Playstation 5

Around the Network

Don't hate the players, hate the game.

First of all, scalping is actually an illegal activity and the real problem is people buying and support this illegal activity. It continues to baffle me that these scalpers are actually able to find people to buy their products at an inflated price. I got two Xbox Series X pre-order since I was afraid my pre-order wasn't going to be valid or one of them would get delayed shipping. I will either sell my second consoles at the cost I paid to a friend or family member. If not I will return the second consoles to the store whenever it arrives.

Nah, the ones in the wrong are the buyers who buy for inflated prices. If you can't wait a few months then you deserve to have your money pissed away.

In the United States, scalping is illegal to varying degrees only in 15 states, I don't know if consoles are covered by the laws that do exist (most of the scalping laws revolve around ticket sales, which are for one-time events rather than a product that will last for an indefinite amount of time), and law enforcement isn't going to waste valuable time or resources on hunting down someone selling a $1000 PS5 or XSX. But yeah, if people would be patient there will be plenty of consoles, and scalpers would be discouraged. But they aren't patient, and scalpers aren't discouraged.

Edit.

I think very lowly of scalpers. Nicest way I can put it. If I let my true feelings be known. I'd surely be banned.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Scalpers are scumbags who ruin it for actual customers who want the product. Those Gamestop employees who are scalping probably know they won't have a job soon, they've got to make some extra money somehow before Gamestop goes under.

I have no problem at all with scalpers. They are just reacting to market forces. I would say that placing two preorders when you only want one is essentially the same thing. Someone that does that has taken away a pre-order from someone else to benefit themselves. I see no problem with that.

I tried and was unable to get a Series X preorder yesterday, even though I was online exactly at launch, and had visited all of the major retailer's sites within 2-3 minutes. Luckily, I know for sure that I'll be able to get a console on launch day *if I'm willing to pay the market price*. I'll have to decide whether I want to pay that price, or wait for the prices to come down. But, really scalpers make it so that anyone that wants a console bad enough can get one at launch. If nobody scalped, it would all just come down to luck.

Yo. Who else has paid 10k for a PS5? Asking for a friend

Sounds like scalper porn.

Pretty sure there's at least one rich idiot out there who has bought a 10K PS5.
