Forums - Sony - New PS5 Ad

Why? I wasn't comparing Switch to PS5. Then the PS5 does, seemingly, have no limits (except for portability). But PS5 is launching to compete with Series X, which is more powerful than it, so right off the bat it will have limits compared to it's main competitor. Why is it strange for a Nintendo fan to offer a thought on this?

Because from what I remember you don't even think the graphics difference are relevant ever since gen 7, and that if we were use the power to define limit then nothing could be said limitless. And you know the ad isn't to be taken literaly.

You are correct that I don't see much different from this upcoming gen and Xbox 360/PS3 days. But this had nothing to do with my definition of power. Most people talking about power are meaning graphics, regardless of what I think, so saying a device has no limits when another device is apparently coming out in the same week that has even less "no limits" seems silly marketing. Market on your strengths, not on what your second best in.

Still feel like they are taking the piss with "Play Has No Limits".

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Has no limits? Uh... It's main competitor is going to launch with more power. Don't get me wrong the PS5 will probably crush Series X in sale and will be great for many reasons, but no limits? Come on lol.

"More power".... yeah, that is true on paper, to bad for MS that they won't have any games to show it off. In all honesty with the minimal power difference, it is pretty much a given that most Sony AAA first-party games will probably look somewhat better than what MS will have to offer for years to come.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

u need these kind of ads,
to build hype fest!

Ok then, still they aren't direct correlate.

Eh.. its bit dull and generic compared to older PlayStation ads; especially the UK ones, which were way more interesting.

On a positive note, it does highlight the new hardware/software features for PS5 for the mass audience.

Its a slogan. Companies have those.  And besides consoles have always been about the games, and Sony have always pushed the boundaries in terms of technology and what could be achieved in a small (and relativity inexpensive) closed box. They have some of the most talented devs in the world working on their games. Just look at what they have achieved with the base PS4 seven years down the line. We're up for an amazing new generation.

Why can't we have nice things in gaming without turning into console wars.

Why can't I have an opinion about that not being the best marketing slogan for them without being accused of turning it into a console war?

Uh I didn't say you can't have an opinion. You just came out of nowhere and bring in other consoles in a discussion about Playstation ad lol

People that keep on jumping on threads like this with with not much interest, spreading negativity and bring in other consoles is pretty suspect. Oh well I'll leave this before it into something more, forget it.

Sony also uses the "Play Has No Limits" line for PS4. It's not about power. It's about creativity and options.
