Will be pretty to see Apple banning all games that use Unreal Engine on ios and mac, will they refund every single user for all the expenses they made plus major class action?

Tim getting schooled pretty nicely.

The part where the guy talks about the weaponizing of children to fight your wars thing is most certainly going to become a bigger issue for Tim/Epic in the future, because once parents start catching on, you're well and truly in for a world of hurt (rightfully so).

I'll take this with a mountain grain of salt. Lawyer exposing what a potential client told them in private and out of court by own volition? Not a good practice.

Im going with the idea this is only for upcoming games and not current games using the engine (aside from epics own) even if someone on twitter says all games using the engine will be effected

Either Epic didn't account for this which makes them reckless or they did but didn't care about what happens to the devs using their engine.

Regardless, Epic can't be trusted as a partner anymore and ports to engines that won't gamble with their games/livelihoods should be a priority.

Epic should offer to pay for the ports if they're going to keep up this fight with Apple. A court will probably make them do it later anyway.

Private? Those are publicly available tweets.

Where are people reading this? All that's happening if Epic doesn't comply by August 28th is that Epic loses the ability to work on updates for the Unreal Engine for iOS and Mac, plus Epic's games will all be taken down. Other developers can keep working with the current version of UE and sell games that use it on Apple's store. Nothing is happening to them.

The consequence is that Epic's UE will get outdated over time, so developers will be looking for engines that will be kept up to date for all viable platforms. Apple is targeting Epic's engine business with this move. Developers can opt for other engines, such as Unity, for future game development.

Unity is not very well equipped for mobile development. Even simple Unity games eat much battery and have bad performance. Anyway no studio wants or will change their whole development cycle to Unity only because Apple wants to earn more money.

At the moment many developers are thinking about slowing down support (or already done that) for iOS anyway because 90+% of smartphones runs on Android and the percentage of iOS phones is decreasing every year. Apple Arcade is a catastrophic flop and iOS gets less and less revelant in the mobile gaming scene.

If UE gets outdated on iOS/MacOS it would simply mean that these platforms get fewer games. Mac was obviously never a platform that gaming developers would think about. Simple games like Candy Crush, Magic Alchemist, etc. will be developed for iOS but more demanding games (even boring ones as Fortnite) will just leave the platform.

The guy is a lawyer on youtube, and he's simply calling Tim out on his obvious hypocrisy and the "freedom fight", which isn't even a freedom fight.

I will take his words over Tim's any day, because, well Tim isn't a lawyer and is more of a snake oil salesman, one that wants to break everyone's ToS but his own.

So the title of his video isn't a reference of Tim calling to him to hire as attorney?

So Tim didn't call him as potential customer?
