This is not a good look after the dissaster that the x1 was. While 9th gen is probably not starting as bad as the 8th gen for ms, it does not seem to be much better. On the other side Sony has more hype than in 8th gen. So this is gona be one sided again. |
That’s quite the conclusion to jump to. Xbox essentially eliminated the “Halo Gears Forza” narrative and was now replaced with “Xbox games are CG no gameplay”. That’s a win, because the new narrative you guys cooked up...it’s temporary. They will have gameplay, it’s inevitable. Also guarantees mid gen Xbox support. Usually Xbox exclusives taper off, now we know they will have a steady stream of exclusives all gen long. Given this logic I simply see your point of view as short sighted and judging at a glance.
Also just because we didn’t see their whole portfolio, doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Gears Tactics and Flight SIM for Series X, Age of Empires 3/4, Battletoads, Wasteland 3, Forza Horizon 5. Long term games like InXiles AAA rpg and The Initiatives IP.
Xbox eliminates the Halo Gears Forza narrative. They eliminate the “Xbox has no exclusives in the mid/late gen” narrative. Lockhart will have the price advantage Xbox One didn’t have in 2013. Series X will have the power advantage among non cross gen games. Game Pass is an insane deal that Sony won’t do unless they desperate to compete.
Funny you came to a different conclusion because “mah trailers too much CG”. Huh.

Really? Their first and third games in the showcase were Halo and Forza, while Gears just came out last year so of course they didn't need to show new Gears.
Nobody is saying Xbox GAMES are all CG, but the trailers are and the last 3-5 years has shown that, outside of Halo, Gears, and Forza, their exclusive lineups are pretty much all shit (Aside from Ori and Cuphead). State of Decay, Crackdown, Sea of Thieves, all pretty critically panned.
The rest of the presentation was filled with 'ohey, that reminds me of Life is Strange' 'ohey, it's Skyrim but exclusive to xbox' 'that game reminds me of this other PS game that we also know nothing about' 'A new fable? cool but what's it play like?'. It was a lot of promises but no real substance. A lot of potential and a lot of great ideas, but their track record shows that the chances of any of these games actually being GOOD or GREAT is pretty low. Obsidian will do well - they always do - Psychonauts looks good, and Everwild has potential, but that's all it is at this point: potential. there's no substance to what we know so far. People like you say 'there's potential and it's Xbox so it's definitely going to be great' and the rest of us go 'eeeeh, wait and see, it looks good but they haven't really impressed me much this last generation'.
One is rational, the other is biased.
