PS4 Pro sales still double of the regular unit. If that doesn't spell supply issues, I don't know what does. TLOU2 probably close to 300k with digital numbers included, but apparently it's just doing "okay" for some people. Sheesh.

So also in Japan did the last of us sell more than uncharted 4 or Spider Man. I believe both had around 125k-130k sales in the first week

Correct, and digital is bigger than ever now, not to mention we have a little pandemic going on.

Week 12, 2017, Monster Hunter XX came out for the 3DS, it sold 1+ million copies.  3DS hardware fell from 42k the previous week to 39k that week.  Monster Hunter and the 3DS are more popular than the PS4 and TLOU.  I don't understand these "this game didn't more hardware" for consoles past 72 months...its a hard needle to move for a console of that age, no matter the game.

Well in this case, we have a very recent example of a game that did move hardware for the PS4: Final Fantasy VII:Remake. PS4 increased by almost 60k units the week FFVII:R released so I think that OTBWY's comment is accurate when he says TLOU2 didn't do much for PS4 hardware sales in Japan.

Was it ever a question if this game will actually move hardware in Japan? Color me surprised. FF7R was always intended to be a system seller in Japan, TLoU2 had no chance there, and the minuscule boost proves this. Still decent opening for the game.

RFA certainly defied a lot of people's expectations.

I really wonder how much it could sell in a week with unlimited stock. 100k? 250k? 500k? I don't think we'll ever find out.

Playing Xenoblade 2 before I buy Xenoblade 3 (otherwise I couldn't wait to play 3).

Can they announce a new Fire Emblem? A remake of Genealogy or Tellius would suffice !

Animal Crossing actually lost the top spot this week. It will probably get it back next week though. Really the next few months are going to see Animal Crossing and RFA at the top or near the top with the big game of the week.

Meanwhile Switch sold 78k without any big releases. Is 78k per week the new baseline going forward?

11 units more and RFA would have outsold Clubhouse games this week.

Seems like the Switch domination continues. PS4 barely got a boost from the TLOUII release, meaning that it's all up to Ghost of Sushi to make a difference this year. The TLOUII numbers are okay, but this to me means that global domination over Animal Crossing is not a given. AC was dominating in all regions.

The PS4 is incredibly supply constrained in Japan. The Pro sold more than the OG which in itself should tell you everything you need to know.

I wonder if we will see ACNH below 50k-40k any week this year, just amazing sales also for switch I guess some stock back

It is about time I refresh the Wii Fit vs Ring Fit in Japan.
I will do this on the coming week end.

TLOU2 has the biggest launch week numbers of all ps4 western titles in Japan, i think that's more than "ok". I do wonder what the drop will be like next week.
