Series X comes with a controller that doesn't have an internal battery? Can you explain this further? Does it have a rechargable external battery or something?

Much like Xbox One's controller, it is designed to accept AA's, because MS found that when surveying their fanbase, about half still like to use AA's. You can purchase a rechargeable battery pack for it, by buying the Xbox play and charge kit, but afaik it doesn't come bundled with one of those rechargeable batteries, just 2 non-rechargeable AA's.

Wow. I had no idea XB1 controllers still came with AA batteries. What's the price on a recharging kit new?

There is no way they sell it for $599. Tons of people are unemployed and the economy sucks.

Not wrong cause if I was in charge of Playstation, I would spend all of the money on hookers, lube and a pirate ship

PS3 launched at $599 and crossed 50m, lol

At a very big cost and several corrections. And you do understand the point =p

May it launch at 599? Sure Sony can make mistakes, but the reasoning of OP and people agreeing is very off.

PS3 had the advantage of BD and being more powerful, plus it was loosing 200 per unit so it was as low as possible. With the PS5 BOM estimative 450, it would make zero sense to launch it at 599 and leave MS to smack them on price while also more powerful and with essentially the same features.

$599.99 won't sting near as much in 2020 as 2006. I understand there's been a global pandemic and other factors, but the PS5 has a lot going for it. Reminder that $599.99 in 2006 is about $763.06 today. PS5 won't fail at launch with a $599.99 price tag. Higher than that? It's going to be a big struggle for PS5.

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Oh don't worry, I get it... was just pointing out that the PS3 managed to cross 50m even with its awful launch, lol. I'm happy to pay a high price because I know I'll get my money's worth out of it, and there's already a minimum of a dozen games I'll be buying just from the first ever games reveal of it, lol. If they announce the price and it's cheaper though? Big win for me, the money will go on more games lol :P

I don`t mind paying 599 for a console I`ll use for 6 years, but yes market wise it is still a little high. 499 is the maximum I see it being a massive launch period and first year sustained sales (without they making a big cut on second or third holiday). Something like PS4 is more likely, launch at 50 USD loss (so 399 discless and 449-499 with disc) and keep that price for 3 years already making profit on the second year, then cut like 100 and hover to the end of it.

On the game side I agree with you this have been one of the most loaded reveals I remember on games I want to buy today.
