It's pretty fugly.
I don't like plastic sticking out when there's no need for it. Will be the first thing that breaks off.

Love it.I think that nobody hates it :)

As I look at it, I think it's really just the disk version that's ugly.  Symmetry is a good thing.

^ that.

However the ability to read disc isnt something I'd go without.

I'm glad to see Sony doing something interesting designwise for once.

Definitely the biggest console ever

Thats not quite fair though.
This shows the Xbox Series X, standing flat at the height of the base PS5 (with its stand).
While ignoreing that Xbox Series X also has these 4 little pads that raise it, at its base.

Ei. Xbox Series X is abit taller than this picture shows.
(they only show the outline of the case of the xbox, ignoreing that its raised off the ground by 4 small feet, so it can take in air)

*edit:
Basically only the playstation 5 here has a stand, or such taken into account.
If your just compaireing the box sizes, you should remove the Playstation 5's stand to be fair with all the others without.

I dislike it more than I like it, but I won't be getting it anyway.

My favorites are PS3 Slim and Xbox One S

My Etsy store

My Ebay store

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

You know, an external HDD/SSD would probably fit perfectly under that raised right side...

Who needs a minimalistic stand when you've got so many games to store?

Maybe they should have made the physical version thicker on the bottom further across?

Maybe just enough space right beside the optical drive for an internal 2.5" HDD/SSD?

Precious, but how much will it be in centimeters wide and high?

No. IT is very ugly.

So a router looking box and fridge looking box are design choices for next gen consoles? Just lovely.

They're both fugly as sin. Honestly think I will just game on my PC early this gen, when they drop the prices and release a smaller, better looking design then I'll reconsider.

Or buy Switch 2.

People are also ignoring the other 2 dimensions

Sony seems to have went 30% longer than XSX, but seems like 30% thinner. Probably pretty similar volume overall. But looks like the longest console ever.

Sony and MS went with very opposite designs. MS went with something that wouldn't look out of place among home audio systems. Sony made more artistic choices.

Also how are people concerned about cooling. There are good sized vents on the top. Airflow is probably pretty similar to XSX, unless people think rectangles are better for airflow...

It is weird that at same time we get complains about not cooling and being to big (even if the GPU is smaller and probaly the silicon in total), also we saw a very big number of air inlets.

But yes our aerodynamics specialists in VGC already analysed that square shape is the best for airflow. That and Sony having PS5 melting being the reason they weren't showing it.
