Anything over £450 in UK is going to be tough buy. Iirc PS4 came in at £350/$399 at launch.

Around £450 would be the upper limit I'm willing to spend on a high end new console.

Remember that was 2013. in 2020 a product that costs $400 will cost at least £400.

So given the PS5 is in a different power tier at release than the PS4 was, I highly doubt it'll only cost $50/£50 more.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Around the Network

It should be doable. MS came out with Xbox One X with a GPU with 12GB, 384bit interface VRAM in 2017, at £450/$500.

Anything higher is entering risky waters, imo of course.

I think preordering hardware is a bad idea this days. Almost all launches end up having some sort of hardware failure due to the rush to launch to market.

Sometimes. Usually not. For every RRoD or YLOD there are plenty of launches that go just fine.

Last I bought a Playstation console it was a used one for less than 200$.
I generally don't get a system unless it has a bunch of exlusives I'm interested in and it usually takes time to build that, so I don't exactly expect to get a next gen system anytime soon. If I do get them it'll certainly be at a lower price than anything on the poll.

Agree.  The first option should have capped at $399.  There really didn't need to be separate options for both $900-$1000 and $1000+ at the end of the poll.  If both consoles launch at $450-$499, I'll probably wait a year for the 2nd holiday sale prices.

This thread is clearly about the maximum price you'd be willing to buy at launch. If you're not willing to buy at launch then the thread poll is not for you. Obviously prices will go down in time.

I started it at $400 because there's no way the XSX or PS5 will be cheaper than the PS4.

Then you need an option that says something like, "I'm going to wait until the price comes down."
