Give me a link. I don't see it on metacritic.
Ok. Thanks. Strange that didn't show it to me.
Machina said: Playground Games get the best ratings atm, but all within the same series. They're untested elsewhere, and reviewers will inevitably get weary of the same series at some point. Obsidian seem the most reliable; high scores across the board and across multiple IPs. Ninja Theory is the most interesting imo; more varied genres than Obsidian and willing to take more risks with any potential new IP. |
I think so too. We'll see how the second Playground team will perform. Will match the first. Probably The Initiative will also do great games (though not many). And it should be remembered that many of these studies have recently expanded, and access to better tools and larger resources will allow them to create more ambitious productions.
A very valuable post.
I don't expect much after Compulsion Games and Undead Labs in the near future. Double Fine is also a great unknown, although Psychonauts 2 should be good.
I put my greatest hopes in inXile, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, The Initiative and the second team at Playground Games.

If you ignore "inXile" + "Rare" + "Compulsion games" + "Undead Labs".
Their resent work leaves alot to be desired.
The "stars" are clearly:
343, Obsidian, Playground games, The Coalition and the guys makeing Ori.
About what I expected, Obsidian has the most consistent record (not counting Playground games). Obsidian is probably the most promising studio imo (Playground may be a close second or even top dog if they can nail Fable IV).
