I would. say that while Unreal demo was impressive, I still think that MS event was better in a way that it had some games that got me interested. MS event was bad. in terms of selling the next gen console but solid overall as a show with new game announcements.

MS's event was hyped as a first look at games running on series x. People expected mindblowing visuals and to get fired up for next gen, but their event did the exact opposite.

Some say it was just a marketing fail, but what if its not? I mean didn't Ms show exactly what they promised when they said "all exclusives will be cross gen for the first 2 years and, just like pc, will scale up and down their family of devices".

Sure it doesn't negate it will be available on other platforms. But on the video posted they didn't talk about any other platform. And if Sony tried to put the videos on MS reveal to say they were revealed for Playstation 5 but would look and run better because of the SSD I'm pretty certain you would have an issue with it.

That is the problem with MS, they try to capitalize even on other system reveals, happened the start of this gen as well, they just can't accept it. I remember they putting stunts on the marketing deals between Sony and some publishers like the fragance add and stuff like that. I guess you like this type of behaviour right?

Anyone should take issue with Sony saying something will look or run better because of the SSD because that’s silly. But why would I care if Sony said UE5 was revealed for PS5? It’s a multi platform game engine lol.

There was nothing lying in the tweet. UE5 will come to XSX and should look and run better. And it will look and run even better on PC.

Unreal Engine 5 are optimize to run on faster IO of SSD (just read what Tim Sweeney said on the interview) , If Xbox Series X has faster IO speed like Sony has  then it will have slightly better resolution probably 16 to 17 % better resolution. But in reality Xbox series X has slow IO speed , So expect the same quality with slower frame rates and a lot of pop up on polygon, triangle and texture . Or probably the same quality with PS5 with all the raw performance done  on GPU instead on the IO to mitigate the slower IO speed.

Also on topic, the point of the discussion is not just about showing unreal, but to shows the potential next gen look, Microsoft have failed this, Sony create the buzz why upgrading to next gen is a must.

Microsoft killed the hype by saying 60fps and 4K while failed on delivering gameplay demo. On top of that the most wanted games on Inside Xbox Assassins Creed Valhalla is not even showed in gameplay session and not running at 60 fps, instead it's run at 30 fps.

Oh nice, can’t wait to try it on my Android phone with the SSD it came with LOL

Microsoft already showed an amazing looking game built with Unreal Engine and it’s an actual game that will release. The UE5 tech demo looked great, it will look even better on XSX and PC.

This demo had a scaling resolution that was 1440p max and 30 FPS. Why is Ass Creed being 4K/30 a big deal?

Twist as you wish but the tweet turned a reveal for PS5 into a reveal to XSX because it can't accept a good new for PS5 even having the need to take a jab against it, just like Aaron done on another tweet.

And yes having SSD can do the game run better. Unless you think they invested a lot on the technology just for giggles. And that Sweeney interview was just a big lie.

Because it is a crossgen and MS have been talking a lot about 60fps but then the reveal failed to show it. Hellblade also wasn't that impressive. So MS still haven't show all the beefier HW can do.

It's not just about the SSD but the IO

Sony was heckled a bit for its focus on the PlayStation 5's storage speed, and if all you're imagining is loading screens disappearing more quickly, it does seem like an odd focus. But it's about moving beyond loading screens entirely, to the point where "you can bring in [the demo's] geometry and display it despite it not all fitting in memory," says Epic CEO Tim Sweeney.

In other words, the storage needs to be fast enough to keep up with the player, allowing the game to seamlessly increase the complexity of distant objects as they get closer without 'popping in' more detailed models—something we've gotten used to seeing.

To that end, Unreal Engine 5 is being "optimized for next-generation storage." The PlayStation 5 storage tech is "god-tier," says Sweeney, while PCs have some catching up to do. That said, "on a high-end PC with an SSD," and especially with an NVMe SSD, we should get "awesome performance" from Unreal Engine 5 games. (With a good GPU and CPU too, of course.)"

you always keep arguing even tho there is clearly article and many article pointed out that it can run on every platform but it will run better if it has better IO speed (not justb SSD ). Which Microsoft has but inferior to PS5 . So it will not running better nor good than PS5.

Just throw all the raw spec , it's all about faster IO

Also Assassins Creed is old gen graphic, it's supposed to run at 4K at 120 fps on Xbox SX.

Microsoft has not showed anything, they just showed Sanua in engine , which is not a gameplay nor the actual look on the final build, also it's not using Unreal Engine 5. Instead it's just old Unreal Engine. Unreal 5 =/= Unreal 4

We know that PCs currently are heavily disadvantaged because the decompressed (by one or more cpu cores) data is in cpu memory space.

GPU's can do decompression duties.
Plus an 8-core CPU is mid range, the PC has more and faster CPU cores to do the task and maybe even better using a more intensive algorithm.

Would this demo run on my PC with a RTX 2070 Super? Yes, according to Libreri, and I should get "pretty good" performance. For comparison, the PlayStation 5 GPU the demo video was captured on achieves 10.28 teraflops, while the RTX 2070 Super hits just over 9 teraflops.

Regarding loading and streaming, though, Sweeney says that the PlayStation 5's SSD architecture is "god-tier" and "pretty far ahead of PCs," but that you should still get "awesome performance" with an NVMe SSD, which I'm using."

Teraflops isn't everything. Thought we were over that bridge now... :/

According to Keighley, the SSD used by Sony is so fast that there is currently no model on the commercial market for sale that can compete with it. He even goes so far as to say that the PlayStation 5 is at the forefront of the PC market and will encourage them to use faster SSDs. That is highly unusual, normally consoles lag behind what is possible in PCs, partly because of the cost of a console.

Doesn't mean that PC's can't have faster SSD's though. The only limit is price.
Otherwise an SSD array that provides 64GB/s of bandwidth an 10 Terabytes worth of storage space is possible.

Who knew that devs and companies say stupid stuff at the start of gens hyping up hardware they have marketing deals with.

Again, by the time the PS5 is out and games are using UE5 all this talk about PS5 SSD’s blowing PC away will be irrelevant. The PC with good hardware and an SSD will run this same demo better. The XSX is more powerful and also has an SSD, it will run the demo better.

Who said Ass Creed should be 4k and 120fps? Y’all really need to pick one argument and stick to it, MS can’t be over and under delivering at the same time

Is not just marketing deals, also Unreal is coming to Xbox and Windows , and has been working with Microsoft since you born to this world no doubt about it.

Also, i never said nor Tim Sweeney said it will be forever like this, he said for the time being PS5 IO is unmatch , we will see of course better SSD in near future with more expensive price of course.

From the raw performance of Xbox SX, Xbox SX should able to run the games more than 60 fps (just look Gears of War 5 run on Xbox SX).

To be fair PS3 and 360 were better than Gaming PCs of the era in some ways like the multicore CPU and such. They were still pretty good in 2007/8. It does seem PS5/XSX feel the closest to a big leap like 360/PS3 even if it's only the SSD.

Then why did PC's always held the graphical edge for the entire 7th gen if that was the case?

Even in 2006 when Oblivion came out and showcased what the Xbox 360 could do, it still looked and ran better on PC.

PC games are always that "step up" over console games.

When console gamers were gaming on the Playstation 2, PC gamers were using Tessellation in games... A hardware feature that wouldn't be standard until the Playstation 4 came out.
And you think the consoles were better than a gaming PC? Common.
