Forums - Gaming Discussion - New Action RPG from Tales guys SCARLET NEXUS announced!

NGL but this looks generic as all hell, and typical for Bamco.

I'll wait for more trailers/info, and if I'm interested, I'll wait for another 2 years (because Bamco are greedy like that) for a price drop, because fuck Bamco's tax.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

Looks SO much more generic than Astral Chain. But honestly, if it doesn't end up having elements which conflict with one another, then it might end up being about as good or even better. Doubt it, but it's possible.

Edit: This doesn't even look like Astral Chain and I am now pouring hot wax on myself for even entertaining the comparison. This looks so much more like Code Vein, which is literally from the same publisher, than Astral Chain.

The city shown has heavy Harmony Square vibes, so the comparison with Astral Chain is not a far-fetched thought.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Looks interesting at first glance, but Bandai will have to show the strength of it's gameplay to convince people that it's a worthy action game.

They're no Platinum as far as we're concerned.

But Harmony Square is a typical New York/Tokyo blend. Its not exclusive to Astral Chain.

When I said it reminded me of Astral Chain, I meant in Hyper neon colorful look and the the face neon scar whenever powers are being used. Its really onlu skin deep. Like the above guy said, Code vein did not come to mind but on hindsight it does look like Code vein.

Before reading any of the comments my first thought was this looks kind of like Astral Chain. If so many people are coming to the conclusion on their own there is something to it.

The premise is that there is an invading force that is immune to conventional weaponry. You are part of an elite team who have the unique ability who can stop them. Same for each one.

There are also visual cues. The monster designs the overall art style, the floating hologram caution tape etc.

There's no reason they couldn't have come up with the ideas entirely separately. It's not like Astral Chain was so incredibly unique that nobody else could have thought of it. And it's not like more Astral Chain would be a bad thing anyway. Astral Chain was awesome.

I mean, basically all the most unique elements of Astral Chain don't really seem to be replicated here - there's no chain mechanic I can see (literally the gimmick of the game), the color scheme is somewhat similar but focuses significantly more on reds than blues and purples (so more like Code Vein than say Astral Chain which had a more even mixture), the characters don't look like "cops" but more like "rogues", and the enemies look more like something you'd see in some kind of Souls-like than in Astral Chain. I would actually say the visual ques make this look less like Astral Chain as a whole, bare a few exceptions, like the digital artifacts that make up parts of the environment, or the city, or the guy who's mask looks a little like HAL's.

Regardless yea, I went a little too far for the sake of exaggeration and joking in saying "This doesn't even look like Astral Chain", at the same time I obviously did not actually pour hot wax on myself, so It looks somewhat similar to both games imo.

Gameplay wise though I'm not sure? It looks a bit more like it is in the character-action category than a Souls-like, but it also doesn't really seem to share the sluggishness or mechanics of Astral Chain.

The hyper neon colors are also present in Harmony Square, that's why the very first frame of this trailer showcasing the city instantly reminded me of Astral Chain; the feel is similar.

I would not call Astral Chain  sluggish.

Looks like Astral Chain but less awful.

Not coming to Switch. Classic Bamco :D
