The history: Horii wanted a numbered Dragon Quest on console space. And came of Dragon Quest XI disaster. If Dragon Quest XII will be on Ps5 only, it was a monster disaster.

Dragon Quest rule: the most successful platform in Japan at the moment gets the numbered Dragon Quest.

That's not how it works for Dragon Quest, the games are contractually obliged to come to the best-selling platform in Japan, which means Switch.

That doesn't rule out a PS5 version, but a Switch version is pretty much guaranteed unless the game comes out after it's lifetime. But even then, it would certainly come to the Switch's successor.

Well it certainly is starting to do bits. Will be interesting to see what it does first week. Anyone has some data on COMGnet to first week sales ratios? Pokemon did almost 2000:1 which might be a good series to compare it to.
