Love the look. Don't care much about the new features, but I'll give them a chance to leave me unimpressed. Not that it sounds bad or anything. I just tend to think I'll play in the most "traditional" way possible if given the option. Sexy though. If weren't against god's law, I'd make it my wife.

In Japan there must be at least one god that allow it, as people officially marry their phones.

In terms of shape it's a step in the right direction. But is still lagging behind the xbone controller and switch pro controller. I'm not sure why Sony is so adverse to modernising controllers. Even Nintendo realises that Microsoft had it right with the 360 controller, and Nintendo can be so stubborn when it comes to these things.
Overall it looks fine and looks like it'll work fine, not bad, not great, just ok.

If you're referring to the sticks, theyre probably not doing it because market research shows the vast majority of playstation owners are comfortable and used to its placement. Changing it would be weird for them. Personally I've never got the fuss about the stick placement, what exactly do people not like about it? Is it  a problem for people with big hands or something?

My biggest problem with the dual shock analog stick placements has always been getting cramp/fatigue in my thumbs as they feel squashed compared with them been more naturally stretched out on a Xbox or the Switch pro controller.

One thing I did notice comparing the whole symmetrical and non-symmetrical analog placements was in Monster Hunter World having put over 100 hours in both the X1/PS4 version of the game is how much better access you get to the dpad on the X1 controller allowing you ease to take your hand off either analog stick and use the dpad. The problem with the DS4 is you can't slide your right thumb across to the dpad whilst also moving since the left analog stick is always the movement stick and having to scroll through items without moving or awkwardly crossing your arms over felt terrible in comparison.

By "modernizing" are you referring the the analog stick placement?

When he then talks about Switch Pro copying X360 you can be sure it is this. Some people think 100M people that buy PS4 would happier with a Xbox controller.

Looks nice and different. Good to see Sony taking risk and choosing not to design in their comfort zone haters be damned.

Guess you are unaware of the boomerang in PS3 and also that DS4 is a lot different than DS3.

Give us the coloured face buttons and it'd definitely be an improvement, but overall it's still... nah.

That one looks so much better.

Still, I don't hate the official one. It kinda have a futuristic look.

What?  Have a break and put it on charge.

I don't play that long but I can go weeks or even a couple of months without needing a recharge on a Switch pro controller which has 40 hours of battery life. DS4 Batt's life is trash. Adding a bunch of bullshit brings batt life down and costs up. I prefer it to be the opposite

I know a lot of people have had battery issues with DS4, I can’t say I have ever had that issue though so I probably don’t consider it a big deal.  The good thing is they specifically mentioned battery life in the article so hopefully that translates to an improvement.

Remember with lithium ion you don’t have to fully discharge them, in fact they recommend that you don’t.
