No spoilers here anyway. Aeris dies in the next episode.

That suggests that they'll get the world outside of Midgar up fast. You have a lot of faith in Square-Enix.

Could also be that I have no time reference of when Aeris actually dies in the game. It's somewhere between Midgard and the Comet.

All I can do is hope they get everything done within 3 games so they can finally focus on making good games again.

Three games is optimistic when they've padded out the ~4 hours of Midgar in the original game to a standalone title. Keeping that in mind and factoring in the story, then the second game of the remake could have a good cliffhanger end in Niflheim. I think that would be five towns plus Gold Saucer in the second episode. Getting it all done within three episodes in total would require an abridged version of the world of Final Fantasy VII and that would be a bit odd after the strong focus on Midgar to kick off the remake series.

I can absolutely see them making the open world part of the game a lot more linear and scripted. But I guess they have no reason to rush anything since all of the games are guaranteed to be a huge success.

I never really liked FFVII and now I have a legitimate reason to hate it because it keeps SE from making a better game instead. At the current pace I probably won't get FFXVI before the end of the decade.

Niflheim is the name of the Empire in XV.

Nibelheim is the town you meant.

I like FF7 myself but i feel you, since FF13 people have been waiting for the fabula novela project to be over and that just ended with FF15 so that's a lot of years and now the focus is on FF7 remake.

I too am very curious about FF16 and wonder if they will mix up more traditional elements in it to appease old and new fans and how they will implement what they learned from feedback on past games.

I played the original back in 1997. Pirated version from Brazil. I never played it again to not spoil my memories. Best jrpg and soundtrack ever. It's time to do it again, 23 years later.

Anyone know if there is a Japanese audio option so I don't have to notice the bad dialogue?

This game has amazing production values, the demo had jaw-dropping sequences, the voices themselves are great, but dang, why couldn't they invest a little more in good localisation?

I'm just cruising on the hope that whatever they will do it cannot possibly be worse than FFXV.

I understand a remake doesn’t satisfy you, but Square-Enix is pouring everything they have in the project and treat it as if it was the next instalment in the main numbered series.

I think you’ll get a good idea if they’re back on track or not when you play the Remake. Maybe not from a story/scenario perspective (since it’s a retreading of an already existing story), but from the rest of the design aspects (especially gameplay) it will hopefully display a real sense that they’re finally taking the series back in the right direction.

So, who's playing FF7 right now?

I'm still waiting for my copy. Couldn't pick it up due to the Flu, still waiting for delivery :(

God bless You.
